Rolando 8th to Oakland!

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

I was a Raider fan for decades, and especially when Stabler and Madden were there. Dave Casper, Biletnikoff, The Stork, Matusak, Lester the Molester. How could you not like a team of bad boys like that. I liked them when Tom Flores was coach and Jim Plunket was QB and Bo was setting the world on fire, and when Gruden was there because Gruden made them winners again. Since that time, I don't think I've watched a single game. That pinhead Al Davis keeps hiring bargain basement coaches and just doesn't put the money where it needs to be to make them winners again.
A hate it that Ro is going to Oakland. I hope he does what John Elway did back in his day when he was drafted by Baltimre (Colts) and refused to even negotiate with them. They soon traded him to Denver. I'd like to see Ro do something like that where he went to a team where he could have a chance of winning.

Guess I will echo the thoughts on this one. Yes, I am really proud for Rolando, and wish him all the best. But I really hate it that he had to go to the Raiders. I would have been happier had he made it to the middle of the round and gone to the Giants or one like that.

I doubt he will do that. He looked pretty excited when his name was called.

Kipers getting on my nerves...what a dweeb.
Someone said earlier not to get mad about his Rolando comments, I don't pay attention to much of anything he has to say. He has the easiest job in sports...just going on TV and guessing who picks who, and he's right only about half the time. Besides, it's hard to take anyone serious when they look like Bella Lugosi. :eek2:

Same here. I was a fan back in those days when I was just a kid. Later, I lived in the Denver area for 15 years during the Elway era and am a diehard Bronco fan. I now hate the Raiders with a passion.

Apparently they ran a 4-3 last year, but this article suggests that it looks like they're putting together the pieces for a switch to a 3-4. Drafting Ro seems to provide further evidence of this.
If they draft Cody in the second round, I think it will be safe to say that they are making the switch. And a lot of us will have to learn to root for the Raiders.

That organization has already turned two former SEC stars into busts.

I think that was more about the players themselves and their internal drives rather than the organization. Rolando is way too driven to let himself fail. He may be the ONLY player on the Raiders to do well, but by God he will be sure that he gives his all.

Kiper underestimated Ro's value. Congrats on being 8th ovrall and don't be surprised to see Oakland trade him to someone who will know how to utilize his talents better than the Raiders.

Congrats to Ro.
My thought exactly. The Giants were trying to trade up to get him at the last minute, and Davis knows that. It might be one of those tactical moves...
