On utopiafootball.com one of the moderators claims that there is a rumor that Bama vs Texas is in the works for 2011/2012 or 2012/2013, I know there are some members of tidefans that are in the know and hold back information out of fear of losing their inside sources. Can someone shed some light on this rumor? Has anyone with any credibility heard about this?

I would love to see that. I wouldn't have wanted it the last few years due to sanctions, but I fully expect us to be back to our normal level in the next year or so. Our offense still needs a lot of work, but I hope it begins to become more solid this year. I don't like the teams we have never beaten, so I would love to take on the 'Horns. As petty as it may sound, I would also love to schedule Northern Illinois again. That 4-7 season was a real low-point for our program.

I believe Northern Illinois is on the schedule again in a couple of years or so.

We Don't want to play Texas, yet!!! If we play them now we'll end up 0-8-1 all time against them.

First we want a rematch with Northern Illinois (0-1 all time), Central Florida (0-1 all time) and RICE!!!!!! We're still 0-3 all time against those Owls! We need a four year deal, then we'll be 4-3 vs. Rice and ready to play the Longhorns.

We want RICE!!!

Still have that Hawaii avatar, eh? :)

I haven't heard anything about it. Off hand, it doesn't make sense to me.

11- is Penn State for the "big out of conference" game
12- is Georgia Tech
13- nothing yet
14- GT again.

If there is anything to this, I could see '13...and another year.

Consider, with a 12 game season we'd want one nice OOC game...but at least 3 that are simple money makers/warm-ups.

I don't think the gap is as big as you think. They have a lot of losses of key players, and like us, they are breaking in a new quarterback. I think Alabama is going to be better than Texas next year.

First post speculated in 2011/2012 or 2012/2013. And that is too soon? Are we on a 25-year plan to recover from sanctions?

"What if" both Texas and UA end up with say 2 losses each in '06 and meet in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day '07. A win over the defending National Champion would go a long way in helping to soothe that "never beat Texas" feeling. :biggrin2:

Hey Terry, when will rolltide.com start posting the "future schedules" on the football site? :conf3: There's a scroll link but nothing past this year.

That's a real possibility if Texas get's beat by Ohio State and OU and we end up losing to Florida and LSU. We won't lose to Auburn.

I agree it doesn't make sense, I guess if schools like UTK can schedule more than one beefcake a year then we can too. This is most likely a pure bunk rumor, but hopefully it isn't.

This is the warriors year! I'm telling ya!

Why stop there? "What if" Bama and Texas both finished with no losses and played eachother in the national championship game?:biggrin2:

A Texas fan actually brought this up Friday while I was talking with him. He said he heard it on his end in Texas that a home and home was trying to be set up starting in 2012.

I'll see if he has any more info or maybe a link to his source.

I hear ya, brother! Pass the kool-aid, I'm mighty thirsty this off season! :biggrin2:

That matchup would generate a lot of hype. The names if nothing else. Their tradition (if you want to call it that) isn't like ours, but it would still be huge. Our first win wouldn't be bad either. :-p

If it is anything like the Alumni Association...it'll be late.

If we can't beat Florida, I don't see how we can beat all-barn.

It doesn't always work like that though.

I doubt in '99 that Louisiana Tech could've won the SEC championship.

Plus, we've got Florida on the road and Auburn won't beat us at home forever.
