S Landon Collins Updates

Landon Collins' Alpha Talon team won The Opening's 7on tournament and he also was named the 7on tournament's most valuable player. Earlier in the week Collins won the SPARQ ratings national championship setting a new scoring record of 143.76. What a successful trip he had to the Nike even in Oregon.

Landon Collins out of Louisiana, a five-star candidate has been wearing an Alabama hat all day. His recruitment has been thought to be an Alabama-LSU battle.

Barton Simmons

I know it means very little but it really does have the LSU fans in a freenzy.

Here is a picture from The Opening with Collins sporting a Bama visor and that is Reggie Ragland on the left of him.

Funny how we interpret things. Had he been wearing an LSU hat, many here would have conceded him to the corndogs. He wore a Bama hat all day and we're saying at least it's not a bad sign. Gotta love recruiting.

let's put this way, Collins didn't have to wear any hat at all, but to intentionally wear a Bama hat at The Opening speaks volume!!

I know its a long way from NSD, but if you are an LSU fan, this can't be good in anyway, form , or shape from any perspective....period.

I watched Collins last night in the finals. He IS a big time safety. Great size, very athletic, fast, physical player who doesn't seem intimidated by anyone. Would be a GIGANTIC pick up if Bama could get him.

I think that is the difference between Crowell or other high profile kids that would were UA gear. They would have us near the top or a leader at one time, but Collins the top recruit from LA seems to have UA at the top and says very little in interviews regarding LSU except they are co-leaders with UA. Crowell always talked about UGA with high praise I have yet to see that from Collins regarding LSU. Most LSU fans assume they are the leader or at the top for Collins because he is a LA kid and they have gotten who they want from LA in the past. GA is alot different from LA because of the depth other schools can always get a top player from there but very seldom do many do well getting a player from LA especially the top player in the state.

I think our chance right now are really good and if some think USC fans would have gone off the deep end if Clowney would have signed with UA wait until Collins signs with UA and how that group responds down in the bayou. It will be as bad as when CNS came to UA and CLM might go into hiding.

That's from the 2009 season when he would have been a sophomore. Even at that age, he looked good. I enjoy reading some of the comments. People talking about how he should go to this school and that; even though, he has a top two of LSU and Bama.

Those are his top two schools. When Collins was asked in a 247 interview after The Opening, he said “My top two colleges are still Alabama and LSU.”

Not to mention he said that he thought he packed his LSU and Miami hats to wear at the event, but the only one he packed was his Bama visor. ;)

Priorities... Ha ha! I do like the way he's pointing at it, though I don't usually care about that kind of stuff. Was Ragland making A's with his hands?

the latest AJC article states that Kenyan Drake is recruiting for Bama during the camps. it also mentioned that Drake is trying to recruit Collins to UA. regarding the Bama hat, Drake basically told him not to wear only the scipt "A" in a hat , but in your heart as well !!
Drake told him not to wait and just go ahead and commit to Bama...

Love the Drake!! :BigA:

That would be the best safety class we have ever had and possibly best anybody has had.

I don't know about the best evah, it's subjective. Barron and Lester weren't ranked as high out of HS but they've produced very well on the field. Both of them were from the 2008 class so as of today they're the best safety class evah at Bama IMO.

I thought about Barron/Lester and you are right as far as producing on the field. My meaning was if we land two five star safeties (Collins will most likely get one soon) it will be the best safety "class" ever on paper IMO.

Don't be surprised to see him wait as long as possible to not catch the instate pressure that awaits in Louisiana

Gotcha, Bama's recruiting very well in the secondary under Saban.

ESPNU 150 sees a couple changes over last six weeks - ESPN
Geismar (La.) Dutchtown safety Landon Collins continues to rise and now sits at No. 20 overall, up from No. 51. Miami Norland athlete Randy "Duke" Johnson climbs a few spots from No. 54 to No. 50, while Buford (Ga.) High School OLB Dillon Lee continues to move up the board as well, climbing to No. 56 from No. 72.

Of course with additions to the ESPNU 150 comes some subtractions, which is par for the course and not always a negative reflection. McPherson (Kan.) High School QB Tyler Matthews and Lindale (Ga.) Pepperell DT Dakota Ball drop out of the 150 at this time.
