It is clear that we can't keep up with recruiting here in the state of Alabama. Coaches from other teams are sweeping the state in such a high and luxurious pace that we can't keep up and compete with that. We need to pull all scholarship offers from all in-state players and start focusing solely on out-of-state prospects that we have a better chance at signing. I guess we will just have to settle for the top talent in Georgia, Tennessee and other states since we have no chance at signing in-state recruits now that the state of Alabama is being taken by storm. :p_eyes:

I propose Tidefans.com coming together, throwing in some money, renting a hummer limo, and having our limo follow the Prowler with a simple but effective message the kids can understand: AUBURN SUCKS.

:BigA: I know you are kidding!! Surrender ?when you knock a home run when you step up to the plate 8 out of 10 times! We have cherry picked the state the last 2 years! Why stop now! I am glad we are getting the Flukers and the Julios!

This sounds very close to what I can imagine kiffen saying with his assistant coaches around. Seriously...with a few words changed around...

As far as the limo and stuff at the barn, wonder why they couldn't find a blue and orange one...

Not so fast it appears the barners have ran into a little recruiting difficulty.

The Prowler LiMOO

Barnstorming!!!

Prowling Tigers
Auburn has been in the headlines the past few days with the 'Tiger Prowl', where seven Tiger coaches piled in a limo and barnstormed the state of Alabama. How is this road trip being received and can it help new Auburn head coach Gene Chizik in the in-state recruiting wars?

For the past two recruiting seasons, Alabama has flat-out dominated in-state recruiting. To be honest with you, that's saying it kindly. To put things in perspective, Auburn did not sign one top-10 player from its home state in the 2008 and 2009 classes. Not one. That's not good, especially considering the talent the state has produced in this time frame.

The barners are back in a black LiMOO with a new driver and on the recruiting road again. The Prowler was last seen in Springville. ;)

Meanwhile the Crimson Caravan keeps on rolling through the southeast. Think about it. Does it make sense to pile all of you coaches/recruiters into a limo and drive around the state or have your coaches/recruiters fan out all across the country targeting your top targets? Not to mention CNS uses video confrencing to stay in close contact with the Bama prospects.

Saban keeps attention on UA during Crimson Caravan
Saban kept the focus of his Thursday remarks on UA, even when asked about recruiting practices at other schools. At one point, he was asked about Auburn University’s “Tiger Prowl,” in which seven AU assistant coaches visit high school campuses in a limousine.

“I really worry about what we need to do,” Saban said. “I don’t worry about what they do and, to be honest, I don’t know that much about it. We have a good program, a great organization and a great place for someone to launch a career. That’s what we concentrate on.”

The aubie coaches could have attracted even move attention, and at least as much press, by running down the streets waving au flags. All they are doing is saying "hey, look at us....we are still here". When it is all said they are still awbarn.....36-0......with a 5-19 HC.

Much like the stunts pulled by Kiffin, I don't think the reception of trying to grab attention is going to go over like they hope. I have not seen a major media outlet not make fun of them yet.

what I would give to see this thing going down the road...

my tag on my car would be enough as I got in front of them creeping along(TideI4)... but i'd make sure to find yeah Alabama on the MP3 and have it blasting out of the Pioneers for good measure

Seriously, I'm so sick of this I could almost cuss on TideFans. :D

I agree with whoever said it above: If you're choosing a school because the coaches rode around in a limo with window flags and magnets, then I would say more power to you. Auburn is perfect for you.

Is it really good publicity if people are just laughing at you? The Barn has fallen so far that being a joke is good enough?

guys, lets be fair, every three years or so we need to let them take a little talent from the state so that they will actually have a shot at a decent bowl before they come to get their yearly beating from us and thus lose the bid. It feels better when we add collateral damage to the obvious joy of bending them over on national television.

Despite the hype that has been generated around the new stretch Escalade, I really see little indication that anything is changing that much in terms of recruiting.

To be sure, Auburn has clearly made an impression on a few elite tailbacks, namely Lache Seastrunk, Michael Dyer, and Marcus Lattimore. Nevertheless, it's hard to see anything major happening with those guys. Regardless of a few rave visit reviews, Seastrunk is still an LSU v. Texas battle, Dyer is essentially an Arkansas lock, and though Lattimore constitutes their best chance, him ultimately ending up at Auburn in eight months would still be a very big surprise.

Moving forward, exactly what has been done to address the two biggest problems they have, i.e. a complete lack of quality depth on the offensive line and a quality quarterback? Absolutely nothing. None of the big-time time offensive line recruits are really looking their way, and the same things go at quarterback.

Moreover, exactly what is changing in-state? Again, nothing. Alabama once again looks to make an almost complete run of the top in-state prospects, while Auburn will once again have to sign the leftovers. All of the state's top prospects -- Milliner, Williams, Perry, Mosley, Sanders, etc. -- look to sign with Alabama, with the only ones really getting away being the ones that we ultimately do not want (i.e. guys like Richardson). Aside from that, Auburn looks to take only one top in-state prospect from us, and that is Ladarius Owens, and he has family ties to Auburn (just like Terrance Coleman did last year).

Beyond that, their supposed "resurgence" in recruiting has done nothing to stop us from getting a lot of talent out of Georgia, and it is doing nothing to change the fact that we should be going into their backyard of Columbus and getting Brian Vogler.

All in all, I see where very little has changed. To be sure, Chizik has gotten some interest in Auburn again -- they largely through laughable means, see the Hummer -- but at the end of the day it still looks like Alabama will continue to get all of the state's top prospects that they want, while Auburn continues to play second fiddle. And that's before you even address the reality that they are likely to have another bad season in 2009.

Again, it's all hype and talk right now, not substance.

Look at their program and school, guys...

Alabama has a 10-billion times better nightlife than they do. Alabama has been and forever will be a more relevant school. Our stadium and facilities are among the nation's elite. Our fans are the most avid and die-hard. And you won't find any on-campus trailer parks, cow pastures, and barns at Alabama as you would in Aubarn. In addition we have Nick Saban they have Gene Cheez-it. And lastly they're Aubarn, the redheaded stepsister in the state; I'm talking the little school just underneath that dark, unBEARable shadow which UA casts upon them.

At least their attempting to make their school and program look decent by riding around in RENTAL limos with $5 magnets and flags on them!
