This is a question I asked myself long before the Auburn game .Realizing all the great things Saban has done for our football program, when I heard about the Saban statue I told a fellow Bama fan and a good friend of mine that I thought that was rushing things a bit. He disagreed. What do you guys think? My thinking is that Bear won six NC's and it's kind of disrespectful to him to equate Saban's one NC and short term success by erecting a statue along side of the Bear.I'm sure many of you will disagree.

The criteria for a statue is winning a national championship. He's won a national championship and if I'm wagering will probably win another one before he leaves...

You get a statue if you win a National Title. Notice I said a National Title, as in 1. Saban's done that.

However, I do think it was a bit premature. I don't like the idea of having a statue for anyone unless they've retired or died. I think as flattered as CNS was at having a statue erected in his honor, he too knew it was a bit premature, hence the delay.

Coach Stallings won 1 SEC Championship and 1 National Championship...just like Coach Saban. Are you questioning his statue as well?

**Great minds TideEngineer08...great minds**

Spot on! In this world of instant gratification, they just couldn't wait.

Exactly! Stallings, Wade, and Thomas stand beside Bryant too! They all won a National Championship. Boy its a short walk from the Penthouse to the Outhouse when you are coaching at the University of Alabama. :)

Nick Saban has won a National Championship at two different SEC schools. The man deserves it!

Sorry, but this thread just makes me say....wow.

The man leads the team to two straight undefeated seasons, two straight SECCG berths, and a national title. You won't see the barn or any other team in the SEC do that.

What do you really think?

We need to be careful and not try to to kill the goose to get more golden eggs...

This topic has been beaten to death with several multi-page threads at the time the announcement was made. I guess this will take its place alongside the white helmet/uniform change/BDS turf, etc. threads...

I thought the holdup was getting the players names included at CNS's insistence. Well, that and the hair wasn't right.

No. The statue isn't premature. Whenever it's ready, it should be dedicated. If you win a NC, you get a statue. I don't see what the debate's about?

I'm cool with a statue. Probably if you got right down to it though the only statues of men exceeding expectations, etc you would be left with Wallace Wade and Bryant. The Rose Bowl, probably the single biggest win in our history and Bryant's dominance with 6 national titles in 25 years.

Anyway, I'm glad we have them and show our appreciation for any. I told my wife last season to enjoy it more. These dont just happen all the time. ;)
