Say something good about Chicago!

I have enjoyed the series The Bear. Season 4 was the best season by far, imo. You couldn't have season 4 without the unrest of seasons 1-3 though.

But, but, but, GUNS are permit-less carry allowed in Gary, so crime should be A LOT lower than Chicago, right, right, right?
Not sure why you’re hung up on this. No one really cares about a town of 65k people compared to one of the most populated and well-known cities in the country.

And per capita, crime may well be a lot lower in Chicago. Iirc, Chicago isn’t even in the top 20 most violent cities in the US.

Heck, Memphis is #1 yet no one cares.

It's just been the constant, "Chicago's gun laws are proof that gun laws don't work blah, blah, blah", and I say, if gun laws don't work, then Gary Indiana should be the safest city on the planet. But Gary is even less safe as mo guns = mo problems. Especially since guns flow right up from Gary, Indiana into Chicago.

And we'll continue to ignore the effect of lead pipes, lead paint, and general disaster of the long ago poorly designed South Side of Chicago ghettos that have all created this mess that only fixing those three things will start to correct the crime issue. But we don't do long term problem fixes in the US anymore because it costs too much and takes too long (and requires admitting we screwed up), so the President is now looking at using a military force to subdue the population that could simply use more resources to clean up their mess they are living in instead of just adding to the trauma the South Side has already endured. But I digress.

I was manager at a business to business store which consisted of a large warehouse with a forklift and pallet racks of goods in an Industrial Park. As many here know, not every business in an Industrial Park has a forklift but there are occasions when you need one - so you usually ask the guy who has one to lend a hand. One of the places I did this for made souvenirs from golf clubs and offered to make one for me. At this time the Chicago Bulls with MJ were competing for titles, with me as a big fan, so that is what I asked for.......

Chicago's crime rate is significantly lower than Gary, Indiana, which is just south of South Chicago. Why this isn't in the news all of the time, I can't say, but it should be.
Driven through Gary a number of times from the south on the skyway to downtown Chicago. The miles and miles of abandoned steel mills and solid waste disposal sites on the south side of Chicago remind me of a post apocalyptic movie.
