Well man anothr basketball season is over. So I guess I'll vent my thoughts.
1st... We ARE one of the top 10 teams in the nation talent and depth wise, we just never seemed to put it all together. Even aginst OK,... if that game was 2 min longer they would have won.
You remember earlier in the year when we were winning and Mo and all of them were talking about how they pride themselves on defense... well what the hell happeneded to all that pride. I mean we left so many shooters open, it was like we didn't even care anymore
Our offense was not bad... we just didn't execute... I think we are going to miss Dudley more than many people think... We was our team... Kenny Walker sucks... I have never seen a supposedly 6-9 player who can't even make a lay-up. I'm not blaming anyone for our loses, but if I had to pick a player ta-dow.. Mr. Walker congradulations.
Meade played a lot better late in the season. His leadership will be missed.
I hope Mo comes back, he could go to the draft, but we desparatly need him. He balled hogged, but hey who else was gonna take control. True he took bad shots, but hell Michael Jordan took bad shots+ ask anybody and Mo is one of the top 5 point guards, and personally I would put him up against anyone and I think he could hold his own. ... Think back to when Jay Williams was at Duke... can any of yall honestly say that Jay Williams at that time was/is better than Mo. If Mo had that talent and that coach.... I could go on and on, but I will stop
K. Winston will be a star, if he stays all 4 years he may go down as the best Bama player ever... mark my words. He is the only player besides mo, who can create his own opportunities... that is another thing we miss someone who can create.
Shelton will be a big time player for us in the future... if he gets any kind of mean streak look out, he is already the best pure shooter we have... have any ever watched him warm up from behind the arc...."Does he ever miss"
Pettway will be back, he is a balla. I have met him in person and he is no taller than 5'9 and looks about 160ish, but he plays the game.
Coach MG.. needs to go and find a young coach who knows what the hell he is talking about. He needs some help over there on that sidelines. He is one of the best recruiters in the nation, he just needs to surround himself with better coaching.
As for next year... if Mo leaves we are in trouble... big trouble. Dudley will be missed, ... As stated earlier Meade played better in the later part of the year, but K. Walker will be missed the least IMHO. I am glad that we are bringing in 3 athletic big men. I hope they can jump. Coach MG tutored Dudley( who wasn't blessed with great athletic ablily) pretty well, he will do the same for the new guys as well. I am glad that Justin Jonas is coming. I'm not playing the race card, but white boys can flat out shoot. WE need somebody to rain threes on our enemies. But all in all.. with the players coming back and if the new additions learn quickly we might be pretty good next year. Only time will tell!! Until the RTR and bring on some damn Football
