No more CBS is a great thing. I just hope Disney doesn’t hire Danielson or move Collingsworth to college football
Danielson can be annoying at times but there is no better college football color analyst when it comes to analysis and paying close attention to what is going on. I watch some of these ABC, NBC, ESPN and Fox guys and wonder if they are watching the same game as me at times. Too many times some of these guys float off on a subject and stop calling the game for several minutes and Gary does not do this (except when he and Vern interviewed Namath).

The best color in the sport of Football is Tony Romo hands down. For college football I would say Herbie or Blackledge.

Danielson obsesses too much on plays and he has that yankee superiority come out in his tone. I don’t know if it’s intentional but it’s something. I think added with the massive amount of commercials on CBS makes listening to Danielson worse.

Danielson makes everyone paired with him worse. Nessler now annoys me sometimes.

Agree on Romo and that is why I prefaced it with college. Herbie is very good and I enjoy Fowler and him a lot. Blackledge is not bad but I think Gary is better.

Agreed on the CBS commercials and it make their games 30+ mins longer than others.

I haven't heard much of Romo as a commentator but I like what I've heard.

Blackledge and Herbie get on my nerves from time to time but it really just highlights how little they usually do.

Danielson could be great with the right partner - and I'm not saying that Nessler necessarily doesn't qualify - if it were combined with a somewhat lengthy break from calling the SEC.

He knows the game and has a knack for spotting things well before the average analyst - if they would even spot them at all. He just needs to tone way back on his high-horse mode.

I think CBS does make it worse, as their entire production level is subpar on college games. You notice it even more with the B-team, which means the A-team is at least doing something right. And then there's the commercials - not just the quantity but the average length of the breaks and, especially, the handling of coming in and out of them.

Maybe it’s like @uafan4life said. The production probably makes it worse. Gary’s interviews are awesome but CBS as a whole just gets on my last nerve.

Danielson is annoying at all times. He rarely provides the kind of insight you'd hope for from a former NFL quarterback. To say that Gary D. is the best "color man" in the business is such an outlandish take I can only say--I disagree times 100.

I can't recall another color guy who has accurately predicted as many plays pre-snap as GD. Like him or not, he brings insight to the game most lack.

Romo is far far far better than GD at that to the point that you think he is psychic or has the coordinators feed going through his head set.

I believe you, I've just never heard him. It's been forever since I watched an NFL game, just lost interest over the years as I can hardly ever see the Bucs play up here.

I guess we are watching much differently. To each his own but your second sentence is way off.
