SEC Dominance (merged)

LSU's victory gave the SEC a 4-0 record in BCS bowls the past two seasons and 11-4 overall.

• Of the leagues with 12 members, the SEC easily had the most non-conference victories, with 47 (the ACC had 35 and the Big 12 had 41).

• The SEC easily had the best winning percentage in non-conference games, at 82.4 percent. Next-best was the Big 12 at 73.2, followed by the Big Ten at 73.1, the Big East at 71.1, the Pac-10 at 67.6 and the ACC at 62.5.

• The SEC had the second-best winning percentage in non-conference games against teams from other "Big Six" leagues or Notre Dame, at 57.1 percent.

It is nice to see it put into fact. The numbers don't lie.

Re: SEC BEST Conference in the Land. But, we already know!

just looking at those stats, If we are going to continue to have the BCS, and SOS is not going to be a direct factor (It's an indirect factor in that coaches and Harris Poll voters can take it into account when they vote), then the NCAA should allow all SEC teams one loss that does not count

Seriously, though, it is truly amazing that these teams can find their way through the SEC and still win the NC game, not to mention be 11-4 in BCS games overall...

Do y'all think that an 8-team playoff (or maybe even a plus-1) would hurt the SEC in the fact that we would not have the 3-4 week lay off to get healthy...As the NC games the last 2 years have shown, when both teams are healthy, the SEC is clearly better, but I have to wonder if both teams came in the week after finishing the regular season, would it affect the SEC team more bc they'd be so banged up from the season?

SEC Dominance

This was on a Florida board after LSU spanked Ohio St. It is directed to the Buckeyes, who only play one or two real games a year.

Enjoy:

You just got your butt handed to you by LSU.

NOW...try getting up tomorrow...and starting prep to play Florida in Gainesville.

Then prepare to face Georgia in Athens the following week.

Then rest up quick! Because you have Auburn and Tennessee the following two weeks.

THAT'S WHY THE SEC IS THE TOUGHEST CONFERENCE IN AMERICA!!

It's easy to yap about Bowl games...but we have to do this EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK

Re: SEC Dominance

Good stuff, and we have been saying that for years. But by October 11, 2008 Michigan will be 6-0 and Ohio St will be 6-1 and the four-letter network will be hyping their accomplishments and speaking of the "national title implications" of their upcoming rivalry "clash." Remember that after Florida thrashed osu last year the talking heads were saying the same things they are saying now. But many of those same people were predicting osu to beat LSU in the BCS game, including kirk and lou.

Well said. The media bias in favor of Big 2/Little 9, Notre Dame and Pac 10 is absurd. If it doesn't stop, the other conferences should consider uniting into another BCS type alliance and tell the others to take a hike.

P.S. However, it is fun to watch the SEC spank OSU every year.

The SEC definitely beats itself up in the regular season. Maybe they should just go ahead & make the SEC Champ a permanent spot in the MNCG!! :rolleye2: :) ...........just to let everyone else know how high the bar is gonna be!

Ain't THAT the truth!! :biggrin2:

I too believe in SEC dominance but never let your gaurd down. Don't just roll it out there and think the other team lay down for reputation. We saw numerous examples this year to prove that. Mich. vs App. St., Usc vs Stanford and I am sad to say Bama vs LA-Monroe.
Remember to be ever diligent and expect no team to give you anything.:BigA:
