Dan Mullen all the way if they aren’t stupid. He is an established hc, can recruit, and develop qb’s. Scott Frost is an unproven commodity still at this point imo.
And it's well known Mullen would leave without hesitation.

This is not a smart move to me. 2 SEC division titles. No guarantee you will find a better coach. Florida may regret this.
Mac took over a dumpster fire at Florida - a team that had 4-8 and 7-5 records under Muschamp his last 2 years there. Mac's first 2 seasons - 10-4 and 9-4, winning the SECE when they were not the favorite either season.I think the 2 SEC division titles is a bit deceptive. The SEC East has been struggling for several years. UT is weak. South Carolina has struggled with a coach who was fired because he couldn't win at Florida. Missouri, Vandy, Kentucky - not exactly powerhouses. I think Florida has won because there wasn't any real competition on that side of the conference. Almost by default, only to get hammered by Bama each time in the SECCG.
The rise of Georgia since hiring Smart has shined the light on the lack of improvement at Florida. That, I think, as much as anything cost McElwain his job.
Imagine the meltdown in the Vol nation if we see this headline next week:
Jon Gruden Announced As New Florida Gators Coach.

Smart took over a well stocked GA team that knew how to win. they were 10-3 in their last 2 seasons under Richt.
Big difference.
I agree, but you could argue that Mac helped get Richt fired. In Richt's last year, GA went 10-3 and was just edged out of the SECCG by Mac's Gator team that was a joke under Muschamp. Mac took the Gators from the cellar to the SECCG in his first season, beating out their rivals along the way. He also beat GA in his second season and went to the SECCG. Sure, FL has been a huge disappointment in 2017, but FL's administration is trying to pretend that somehow what Mac did in 2015 and 2016 was somehow less than awesome. It wasn't, and that is without even talking about their injury situation.I agree about Georgia. Richt had them positioned to do well with Kirby bringing a little newness and excitement to the program. But I do think a lot of Florida's success was because the rest of the division was down. But logic goes out the window when you're a Florida Gator and you see your biggest rival in the East rise to the top while your team goes backward. That's a tough pill to swallow.
