Exactly......Some of the cable companies are not carrying the Big 10 network, and they are a yankee conferenceWhy not? Because the fans get screwed over enough as it is.
An SEC network would have to line up enough corporate sponsors and advertisers to make it worth it for them to air SEC sports without further charge. And if you follow the money, that's exactly why it won't happen. If it would mean the end to PPV games then I'm all for it but, we know that wouldn't happen. Other then that I don't see the point, all the big SEC games are on TV anyway. I live in Orlando and only missed 2 Bama games this year (ULM/Huston) and I doubt those would have been shown on a SEC channel. Even though I had to paid for the WC game, I was able to watch 10 of the 12 games on TV this year. You can't get much better then that. The only thing a SEC network would be good for would be to see more Basketball and Baseball.
Money is why not. With CBS, ESPN and Lincoln throwing money at the SEC like they are, I can't imagine how the conference would be made better off with its own network. The Big 10 and Mountain West weren't getting on TV enough and had to go that route. If CBS and ESPN went away, Fox and NBC would be on the SEC like a duck on a june bug.
They can't seem to get all the cable systems out there to play ball. I'm not even sure you can get it on satellite.
An SEC network would have no effect on that. There is no way that the SEC would give up it's games on one of the major networks. The conference would be bankrupt in a couple of years. Even the NFL network has had problems getting on a free tier.I am for anything that gets CBS off of SEC broadcasts.
It will be interesting to see where the renewed tv contract figure reaches.Money is why not. I get all of that and more with Verizon FiOS "cable". It's fibre optic phone lines, but is considered "cable." I dropped DirecTV like a bad habit when FiOS came out last year here in Tampa. Not only can I get it on satellite, but I get multiple HD feeds when they are carrying more than one game at the same time. DirecTV doesn't drag their feet like cable does, especially when it comes to sports programming.
Yeah i cant wait to get FIOS. It is going to be available here after the first of the year.I get all of that and more with Verizon FiOS "cable". It's fibre optic phone lines, but is considered "cable." I dropped DirecTV like a bad habit when FiOS came out last year here in Tampa.
Get ready to be spoiled.Yeah i cant wait to get FIOS. It is going to be available here after the first of the year.
That's exactly the way I feel CS, CBS pays a lot of money to the SEC but it still doesn't give them the right to cal Saban a liar on national TV.If the SEC Network will be available on cable nationwide I would be all for it. If it is regional TV like LFS is now I would be against it. The SEC needs to go national cable and satellite that is the bottom line and not just on PPV.
I am for anything that gets CBS off of SEC broadcasts. They are horrible and I can hardly watch their coverage but I have to since they are the National broadcasts for a lot of Alabama's games.
