Mr Menendez also vehemently denied the allegations and painted the allegations as politically motivated.

"For years, forces behind the scenes have repeatedly attempted to silence my voice and dig my political grave," he said in a lengthy statement. "Since this investigation was leaked nearly a year ago, there has been an active smear campaign of anonymous sources and innuendos to create an air of impropriety where none exists."
Curious assertion since this is the first I've heard of it. 🤷‍♂️

Make no mistake- the Repugnants don’t have the market cornered on corruption. They never have. Both parties are cesspools of slime and waste matter, covered with the sweet scent of billions of dollars.
Republicans are just better at hating everyone who isn’t rich (except at election time), who doesn’t look, dress, talk or live like them. They have that down to a science.

This article is from 2019, IOW, before the January 6 insurrection.

Schumer needs to tell him to fall on his sword and resign. The governor of NJ is a Democrat so no worries there. But he doesn’t need what should be a solid blue seat being a concern next year if Menendez is still on the ballot.
