After two games, it is pretty clear what gave the coaches heartburn in naming a starter for the season. After two games, the question is not answered in my mind. What may be a larger concern; I don't think Coker and Bateman have it sorted out. I am not going to bash anyone wearing Crimson but they have got to get that "throw it up with a prayer" stuff under control. If we are going to hold in-season training camp for QB, I would just as soon see 3 and 4 get some reps. Are there any comments from CNS on the subject yet?

Concerning indeed. If Coker looked jittery yesterday, I can't imagine what he'll look like Saturday. The guy obviously works hard but he just doesn't seem to be able to put consistent, decisive throws together. My opinion but if he is the man this year, Bama loses a couple.

IMO at this point in the season if you have 2 QB taking 1st team reps in practice it becomes a big issue for rhythm with the receivers and just overall continuity of the offense.

That makes sense and it seemed like Blake improved substantially the moment he knew the job was his. On the other hand, Blake's early performance is what got him the job. There were not many who disagreed with CNS after game 2 ... (Excluding certain TideFans members :)

This is my feeling as well. Unfortunately. Because of our schedule and qb situation.

The current issues at QB and PK will cost us a few games if they are not improved. Our schedule just does not allow for many off weeks. Here's hoping we get those problems ironed out. If the d keeps improving and the running game remains solid, we should be able to hang with anyone, but we need our QBs to be able to get the ball to the receivers and the kickers need to be able to make 3s consistently from inside 40 yards. We shall see how things play out.

I didn't think Blake Sims could win us a game with his arm until he dismantled Florida. I fully expect Coker to have his moment too. It just wasn't against MTSU.

I'm waiting for Kiffin's magic to kick in...

Watching Auburn flounder around earlier in the day, I wondered if I was enjoying it so much it would jinx our team. I keep telling myself the two things have nothing to do with each other, but I have this superstitious streak...

I've concluded if we are going to be weak at qb this season, Kiffin is good at coming up with plays and schemes to work around it.

There is no substitute for game experience. Making bad decisions is part of the learning process. It's not a bad thing that they made some poor decisions against Middle Tennessee, because they will learn from it.

I just don't understand Coker. For all the hype before he came to Bama, I just don't get it. He doesn't go through his progressions good, seems to lock in on guys no matter the coverage, and has no clue when to throw it away. He doesn't seems like a Sr QB who some say was close to beating out Winston at FSU. Where is that guy? I really hope he turns it around this week but, right now, I just don't see what all the hype was about a year ago.

my take on coker the last game is that he is fine when he gets time to pass. he was rushed the whole first half. some of it is he takes a little longer getting rid of the ball. our off line did him no favors, they were getting beat by the mtsu def consistently. I think once again a spread offense still bothers our coaches and players. every time they used 3 and 4 wide receivers, it was shakey. fortunately there were some bad center play. the secondary was better, with the spread and hurry up, but, our special teams is a little better with the kickoffs, and punting. Griffith is really bad. his concentration seems to be lacking. when he corrects it is extreme to one side or the other. all I know miss will give us all we want at home.

Several good football minds think Coker is our better option to win games. That is puzzling based on what we fans want and have seen. I'll admit to being more than a bit concerned about yesterday, too.

Gotta trust those better heads for football, though. They have more and better info the we do, and waaaay more experience at what they do.

The hype was that he was a physical specimen, with decent speed, and a cannon for an arm. All three are correct, but his accuracy isn't consistent. I get it that people are frustrated, but is cooper Bateman really any better. Unless Blake Barnett suddenly puts on weight I would almost guarantee we will have to live with good jake, average jake, and possibly bad jake this year.

It's funny how freshmen QBs are making a difference for teams all over the country, but somehow ours isn't ready.
