Some Non-'Bama Recruiting Tidbits...

Even some of the homer barner folks are saying they don't expect to sign Lattimore. Lattimore will sign with USCe in my opinion.

Funny though now barner Mathews is saying they may get a RB committed to another school, and the speculation is that Mack Brown will sign with them on NSD. They are also saying that DT Byran Jones has told them he is going to sign with the barn.

Herschel Walker, too.

Do you guys mean that CNS ain't gonna run off a bunch or 4 and 5 star players every year to make room more 4 and 5 star players he thinks will be better? Surely the barners are not misleading me???
On ITAT they have convinced themselves that Coach Saban is running the Bama program like a pro team and cutting players every year.
Of course, they think it will be ok if the cheez does it.

I KNOW......my first mistake was visiting the allbum board.

Yesterday there was some talk concerning our scholarship numbers for 2011. I know it was mentioned we could have some juniors to the NFL. Ingram, Julio, Hightower, Dareus and Barron will all be juniors next year. I'm not making any predictions yet, but you can bet we are going to have some of these guys leave early. I figure Ingram and Julio will both be leaving although I realize 2011 could be very interesting depending on what happens as far as an NFL lock-out.

It would not surprise me if we were to lose four or all five of these guys, but we'll cross that bridge in another year.

Realistically, with the 85 limit, you can really only average about 20 signees per year. Any more than that, you are going to have to force attrition to make it all fit. Simply put, at some point, if you are doing things right, you just have to live within your means.

Well said. That is the reality of recruiting for any big time program, that has built quality depth.

You attract big time players and continue to fill the depth chart. At the same time you will scare away players who want immediate PT and do not want to fight it out with another player who is at or close, to their own ability.

Read: This is the price paid by all successful programs; small but talented recruiting classes that fill future needs and the loss of some big talent that want to be part of the present not the future.

Looks like Lemonier will likely be heading to FSU.

Also, remember that Lattimore will announce tonight at 6:00.

ESPN just did a preview for Sportscenter. On the show, a topic will be "Recruiting Ethics" because recruits are hearing Urban Meyer to the Dallas Cowboys rumor. Has anybody hear this?

Lemonier to FSU, Lattimore to USCe, and hopefully Coleman to Bama

A great example is UF the past few years. They have had small, but potent classes. They are loading up this year because half their jr. class is leaving early for the NFL. Not a bad problem to have. Ideally would love to have no redshirts and let all of our 4-5* kids play all 3 years instead of losing one to a RS year. THis would also allow for bigger recruiting classes every year if kids only spend 3-4 years here instead of 5.
