My point being we were extremely fortunate to be 12-2. We could have easily lost Arkansas, LSU, MSU and Auburn games. If that happens next year, this board and our fans will be going ballistic. I will not say anymore because I will get banned but it is something to think about.

I will agree with LSU, Arkansas but MSU and Auburn both made the game look closer with late TDs. We still beat Auburn by double digits.

You can say that about almost every season.

more concerning:

Why were brown and humphery not able to step up and solve our secondary woes?

Who will step up at WR with Cooper Leaving?

Can we fix our OL with our present OL coach?

as far as receivers go, I think ArDarius Stewart or Cam Sims will be the go to guys. We should just move Howard to receiver.

The DBs and OLine, I am just as stumped as you.

It would be a hard argument for anyone to make to say this season was a failure because it definitely was not a failure. It was actually one of the best seasons in Bama football especially with all of the records they were set. I think just looking at the program as a whole, we will be in prime position to compete for another championship for the next 3-4 years easily. Most of the same intangibles will exist next year as it was this year: Qb play, o-line play, secondary play. Just depends how who dedicates themselves to get better individually and how the team comes together to compete as a whole.

Defense: this has been the same problem for two years and it is a two pronged problem.

1. Secondary can't hold coverage long (general remedy is to blitz more)

2. Saban philosphy on blitzing more: If they can't cover in basic coverages how can I trust them to get the moxitic bltizes right.

End result is we wind up playing a lot more base coverages than we have in the past and a lot less blitz packages. Today's QB can rip apart basic coverages and we don't cover well makes it worse.

Example: javier arenas in 2009: 5 sks 10 tkl for loss

CJKones and EJackson combined this year: 1 sk 5 tfl

I honestly think the OL will be good next year. I think they could be better than this year, in fact. Bradley Bozeman, Grant Hill, and Alphonse Taylor got some quality snaps this year, and Hill played well in relief of Shep and Bozeman looked really good in his second outing. We have several other young guys that are elite lineman I think will compete at the inside positions. I think Grant Hill or Dominick Jackson will play RG and Kelly and Robinson will be back.

I hate the offseason. September is a long way away. Personally I am not looking forward to all the useless offseason threads ie. white helmets, uniform threads, endless debate over who will be the next QB and the always annoying what if thread.

Like the idea of OJH as a wideout. It appears he is not the blocker we need/expect as a TE.

At DB, I could see Eddie moving to Safety and Sylve, Brown, a Smith, and Humphrey being our CBs.

OL . . Kelly, C Rob, Bozeman, G Hill, and ??.

We may miss TJY more than some think, but RB is less worrisome than S and TE.

LB? Sure hope Ragland decides to stay. Devall, Ragland, Lee, and ?? And , , where did T Williams go?

QB? . . . I'm sure MANY threads on that subject are in the future.

I really think Coker has an upper hand at QB but it's not a given he will be the one. But his attitude & support from the sidelines means a lot to CNS, Coach Kiffin I don't know, he may go with who looks best & I think CNS has him make the call.

O line did ok not like other Bama O lines but like someone said one more Cam Robinson fixes that.

the whole D was hot or cold so we know what they can do just can they do it all game every game?

we got the BEST Punter in America can we fix all the other parts of the kicking game?

running backs is going to be an issue if TJ goes to the NFL, Henry is good but not like Mark, Trent & Eddie. He can break out for a 40 yarder then get stopped on 3 & 2, often.

recievers are another big issue our hopes may rest with Stewart, Howard really has trouble catching the ball & is not a good blocker, then how do you replace Jalaton Fowler he could do anything.

Some of these 4 & 5 stars are going to have to play that way, is they do we could see 3 or 4 in a row NC's.

All that said we do have the Best coaches to figure this out & I bet CNS is working on it today

If we would have had Javier Arenas in 2014, I think we might win the championship. He would have given us a huge boost in three areas we needed a boost in: PR/KR, pass coverage, and QB pressure.

So, let's just find another Javy for 2014. Easy enough, right?
