No I'm quite familiar with the space shuttle, but seeing it on the back of a 747 flying about 1200 feet off the ground above the Potomac River was pretty cool to me.

Funny how quickly Floridians got acclimated to that. I remember the first time my husband and I were in Orlando after we married and it coincided with a shuttle return. When he heard the double boom, it freaked him out! He was scrambling around the hotel room, looking in the hallway, out the windows and onto the balcony in his drawers. I just rolled over and told him what it was and to settle down. He couldn't believe I (one who gets easily startled by loud noises) was able to just go back to sleep "like nothing just happened."

so that thing can fly through outerspace all by itself, but it can't even fly from Florida to wherever it's going next without piggy-backing an airplane.

What a waste of money.
