Spring Football - 2025

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Don't count AM out. There's a lot of history there with CRG and CKD, and experience in this offense. I think he's very capable of running the offense and he may know more about the nuances CRG brings to the play calling.

The Highlights
  • Not a modified game; it's a 1.5 hour practice
  • Autograph session on the field after the "game" only for members of Yea Alabama NIL collective.
  • Live music, autographs, and more at 9am at Champions Lane
  • Captain Ceremony at Denny Chimes at 10am
  • Walk of Champions at 11:35

I wondered about run blocking also last year but when I’ve gone back and taken a second look, there were waaaay to many wrong reads on RPO’s as you mentioned. Defenses crashing down and our backs getting hit as soon as they got the ball. And just as bad, when there were nice holes opened up, last years starting QB pulled the ball and got dropped trying to get around the end. While he had awesome speed once he got going, his first two steps were nothing special. See all the sacks once a defender had a bead on him. But back to the line, I am excited to see what we put on the field come September. It can only improve from last year. Plus, we’ve got the stable of backs that can get it done. Look for a solid year from R. Young. On a semi related note, new member here. Been reading for a good long while and finally decided to make it official. This is one of the few boards that I’ve found that, while opinions are given, the trash and bash of everything else is t the status quo. So hats off to you guys for bringing substance and leaving the BS at the door. I look forward to being a part of the team and ROLL TIDE!!
Welcome to TideFans.

If those reports from the scrimmage are true that's GREAT news.

I think Happy Days are returning to Bama. Going to be tough to wait to Aug. 31!

Ty and the WR Horton are going to be very very hard to beat out for a starting spot. They are veteran players with a lot of talent, and for any "rookie"/Freshman to come in and take their spot is going to be a big uphill climb. Some of the info that is now leaking is saying Ty and Horton lit it up in yesterday's scrimmage.

Man, I can't view twitter at work. I'm assuming there's some good passing going on in what you linked?

like I said - small sample. It's also clear they are trying to limit how much we can actually see due to the angle and length of the clip. QBs are barely visible in any of the clips. Can only see them in 3, one a play action by Simpson, one where it looks like KR with a great touch pass. The other is much, much harder to see, but I *think* it was AM based on the frame and it's one of the PBUs. All that said, I could tell that there was a good variety of routes being thrown to, and at different depths, just based on the angles, etc.

Very small sample size, but possibly the best part of this is it appears passes are being thrown to all levels of the field.

I think we’ll absolutely dissect defenses in the short and intermediate game this year.

Ty’s legs will help open up deep plays too because if they play back in coverage he will run all over the place.

While I don't discount Ty's ability to run, I am hoping it's not really part of the plan and that he doesn't have to use them. I'd much rather see a Penix like approach where the passing game has enough variation that the QB is getting 4,500-5,000 yards passing and less than 100 total rushing over the year (At UW, Penix ran for 92 yards one season, and 8 the next). There is a position called RUNNING Back. let's let them do that part... Let the QB focus on getting to the right plays, and getting the ball to all the guys to make plays.

With this QB in the backfield that can actually ready defenses...you just might get your wish.

We on the outside might not be able to tell who threw which pass, but the ones who threw them definitely know.

Do you think DeBoer and Grubb might be trying to manage the locker room in general and the QB room in particular? If so, one way to do that is publicize good things from all three QBs.
