Apparently, word now is that he ended up sitting the whole game. His back up, Drew Little was 13-17 for 135 yds and 2 TDs. So, maybe Little got a gift chance from SJ and played well enough to earn himself the entire game.
Nope, Star is the back up himself. Little was the starter anyway.
Jackson was going to be benched for the first half anyway for what was described as a minor violation of team rules, but Little had already claimed the No. 1 spot. He completed 13 of 17 for 135 yards.

So GA State, in it's first ever football game, beats Shorter 41-7. I don't know whether that's a compliment to Bill Curry's coaching abilities or a statement of just how terrible Shorter must be. :conf2:
OUCH! Anyway, Shorter College is an NAIA division school. I believe that's the level below Division 3.

Looks like they had a nice crowd. Announced at over 30,000. Let's see that would take UAB at least 2 1/2 games to hit that mark, wouldn't it?

Here's hoping Star gets it together and has a fulfilling career at GA St.

Shorter came out on the short end of the stick.

Wow. What a great start for GSU. I sure hope they don't have an off week before their game with us. :)

Shorter is an NAIA school in the same conference as UAB and Faulkner out of Montgomery. They are not members of the NCAA, but the talent level would fall between Div II and Div III.

Wow! Do you think uab has 12000 in attendance? Seriously, that suprises me. I would think closer to 5000 counting parents/visitors/players/coaches and recruits.

UAB is division one or whatever they call it these days. It only seems like they are below us.:biggrin2:

I'm just not sold on AJ. I was more of a UMS Write guy. St. Paul recruits lol. Jk I really think star, physically, is more gifted than AJ...
Jmo though...

Regardless. Still not cool to call him out like that
Not so sure I agree with this statement. Star was nowhere near the passer A.J. is.

BTW-Its St. Paul's Episcopal and UMS-Wright, not Write. Where is UMS-Write located?

If Star had not broken the rules, it looks like Drew Little had already won the first spot and Star would have been Little's backup for the game.
The Associated Press: Georgia State rolls in first football game 41-7

"Little threw a 4-yard scoring pass to Emmanuel Ogbuehi and a 16-yarder to Jordan Giles. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound redshirt freshman won the starting quarterback job that many expected to go to Star Jackson, who had transferred to Georgia State after backing up Greg McElroy on Alabama's national championship team last season."

Shorter lost its opening game to Division II West Alabama, if that tells you anything.

Sounds like Star was not starting, even before the suspension.

There are a lot of folks in the metro area who attended Ga. St. Even only a small percentage are interested in FB, it should make for nice crowds...
