Shiver is a wide receiver from Maryville High School in Tenn. Bama has started to show some interest. He is a receiver/safety at Maryville (No. 9 team in the nation). He is being recruited as mostly an athlete with WR, S and OLB being possibilities. Offer may be coming in the next few weeks.

Shiver is a real good kid. He went down with an ankle injury tonight that looked worse than it was. Should be ok for next week.

This is all I could find on Shiver.

Stephen Shiver Profile

Maryville crushes Heritage, 42-6
Shiver, the Rebels top receiver from a year ago, suffered an injured ankle early in the second half and would leave the field on crutches.

I'm not going to lie, I am a little surprised we may offer too. That's not necessarily a shot against Shiver though. With the 8-9 spots left and the players on the board I would assume it would be a conditional offer. With that being said, I will not be dissapointed in the least if they get this kid.

Also, I don't know how many of you know the coach at Maryville, George Quarles, but at some point a college program is going to come to their senses and give him a call. Maryville is the best coached team I have seen in a VERY long time. They have won four or five state titles in the last five or six years and he has won something like 98 out of his last 100. Excellent young coach.

Definately, no one in-state is even close to Maryville, even other D1 talent-rich programs like Alcoa. Even if his collection of talent is enhanced by players coming from outside his school's immediate area (Burnette and Douglas come to mind), his coaching is still top notch.

I've watched this kid a lot since I live in Maryville - he's special. Doesn't have the raw athletic ability of some of the big name recruits but he's definately a good pick up. He's very well coached, very disciplined, and is VERY fundamentally sound.

Funny thing is, I had heard this news through the grape-vine about 6 weeks ago. I found it rather interesting - but not newsworthy with all the BIG-TIME recruiting activity going on then.

I had also heard that Tennessee's big committment from Maryville, Aaron Douglas (4star TE), isn't all that excited about going there. He's just following Daddy & Mommy's "legacy".
