Steve Spurrier's New Interview Method

This apparently happened today or yesterday...

Interesting to say the least. I actually think the OBC handled it pretty well. Any South Carolina fans in here that can elaborate on the situation?

Cue all the posts about how the media is bad, blah, blah, blah. As a friend just said, if the writer flat out lied - his credentials can easily be pulled. All Steve Spurrier did here was throw a lighter version of the Mike Gundy rant to try and "make a stand". He easily could have handled the situation behind the scenes. The article in question happened in the summer (Credentials weren't pulled), and then the writer pens an article about how Spurrier coached a poor game against Auburn.

I'm sure the rest of the media workers didn't really appreciate it either, especially the invitation for individual interviews.

Sounds like he did handle it behind the scenes. He's not the one who turned the cameras on.

He came into the room where a press conference was going to be held. Cameras start rolling as soon as the coach walks through the door. It's the furthest thing from behind the scenes.

Oh what do you know... this comes out right before news starts breaking Stephen Garcia has been kicked off the team. Hilarious. I wonder if Spurrier will give individual interviews on this subject.

Agreed. This is a childish way for a coach to react; "whaaaaaa... I'm not going to be in the same room... whaaaaaaa." Change your diaper coach and get back out there. SC is headed down the tubes and Spurrier is leading the way.

It would have been very simple for Spurrier to go to South Carolina's media relations office and simply request a credential not be issued to that writer.

Yeah, I know but I wish he would publically chastise them on video before he does that. Mainly, just so I could enjoy it, again and again.

But that's about as closed doors as you'll get. He didn't do it on the practice field, he didn't do it after a game, he didn't do it as a halftime interview.

As others have said, if reporters can call him out publicly, why can't he do the same to them?
