Question: Take-a-Knee by LSU. Class Act or Insult?

With the amount of time on the clock it was an insult but like others have said Les was in a hard spot, Ole Miss would have been better off with a higher score especially taking a knee in front of the Ole Miss home crowd but they deserved it.

If another coach did it- sure, it could be considered the right thing to do. With Miles? Nope.

Remember the jump pass against Florida when Florida was already beaten? Classless. I think this is the same sort of thing. It looks more like a show of dominance than a class act.

Is kneeling on a PAT classy? Punting on 1st down?

I think there is a difference between being classy and a faux show of sportsmanship. This was the latter.

I believe if the situation was exactly the same and CNS did this, the media would be all over him. The fans on the Plains would be stoking the fire, trying to build up the heat against Bama. And fans from many other teams would be jumping right on that train also.
But to the question asked, playing with compassion for the other team is not what comes natural to most players or coaches. So do you stop playing, don't play as hard as you can or take an easy way out? CLM made his choice and I see nothing wrong with it.
The embarrassment suffered at Old Miss has been going on a long time now, it didn't start at this game or this year. It will take a long time to bring Mississippi football back to where they once were...respectable SEC opponent. What will they have to recruit with? Come here you can play right away, or come here at least you will be able to say you played in the SEC. What coach will want to take on this task? We are looking for a good coach, long hours and low pay but the mint juleps are great. Is Mike Leach really that desperate to get back into coaching? Or could the administration at Old Miss shake up the alumni and go after Ruffin McNeill at East Carolina?
I would like to see Mississippi respectable again in the SEC, I'm just not sure how they do it.

I didn't take it in a negative way. LSU more or less called a "mercy" rule and was being kind. It was the job of every Ole Miss player that had actual playing time Saturday to keep LSU from scoring 52 points. Ole Miss never had a chance.

Usually I agree that it is good taste, but I think it was an insult this time. If you remember the play before they started this was a naked QB bootleg to run for a large gain, it wasn't an up the middle play. He was playing for a TD and when it was stopped on the 1 then decided it was bad taste to score again. Turn around and hand the ball to the FB up the middle, if he scores then I'm OK with that. Misdirection then the victory formation, insult.
He played for a TD on the bootleg, he should have finished the drive.

IMO it was not meant as an insult. I heard some analyst say the play run before the 4 knees was audibled to a bootleg, and that, if folks didn't know it was an audible, they would interpret that play-call as running up the score. I think it the 4 knees was the Hat's way of showing mercy, not insult.

Les said after the game that his QB had audibled to the bootleg and, once he called time out, he felt the win was assured and there was no need to score again. Taking the knee ran 2:30 off the clock, which ended the game faster and got the Tigers out of Oxpatch without any unnecessary injuries.
