Even on a roster like Alabama's, there's room for a late bloomer or two.

Linebackers such as Eryk Anders and Cory Reamer and defensive lineman Nick Gentry are just a few examples of players who waited patiently and ultimately improved enough to see significant playing time during the second half of their respective Alabama careers.

Fifth-year senior linebackerTana Patrick is hoping his Crimson Tide career will end in a similar fashion.

Good read. As the writer notes, TP has a great opportunity this spring to get reps and show what he can do. I expect him, at a minimum, to be a ST regular again this year. It would be an a welcome addition if he has a senior year like Anders or Reamer. He should be top backup off the bench unless he is supplanted in fall camp.

Is TP the player who had some type of heat related issue and had to miss part of fall camp a couple of years ago?

I hope Tana breaks through and has a great senior year. He and Nico came in together as 2 of the best HS LB prospects in the nation and I expected they would be our LB's of the future. Nico had a good career and will probably get drafted but he and Tana did not do quite as much as I thought they would. Get after it Tana.

FIFY. Nico will get drafted. ;)

Yep; he may even go on the 2nd day. Likely 3rd to 5th round guy. After Round 1 and 2 it's a crapshoot for where ppl go; some ppl rise high and others drop like a rock just based on team needs and team evaluations.

Patrick seems like a fine kid, and I'm sure he will contribute some this season, but I don't really see a major role for him right now, barring injuries.

Of course, with DePriest having foot surgery and Dickson having knee surgery, that might not take much more to get him on the field. The upshot for a guy like Patrick is that he can play just about anywhere along the LB corps, and can contribute on special teams as well.

Would love to see Tana make an impact..He's certainly paid his dues waiting his turn..Players like him that work their butts off in practice & in the classroom..But..May not have played a lot in his career..Are they type players that are the backbone of "The Process" & are the players that helps "The Process" keep running so smoothly..
