Just had a buddy up that way (Knoxville) saying Pruitt will coach the D line the rest of the season.

Well okey dokie then......
That’s interesting. I wonder which position group he was assisting with before. I wonder if that will hurt another groups performance if he stops coaching them to move over to the D-line.

He is not a DL coach, and has never been a DL coach. He has not coached a position while at TN.

He has primarily been a DB coach, but like other DCs at Alabama he coached ILBs when he was last there.

I just saw an article on AL.com that compares Bama and TN stats. It shows that Bama is of course much better on offense, but also that TN is better on defense on most stats. We have 2 common opponents so far: Mizzou and UGA.

Will be interesting how TN DLine performs the remainder of the year. Bama will win Saturday, but I hope it is not a sloppy win being an away game after the excitement of beating UGA. I hope the weather will be nice there.

Don’t think Saban will allow them to get overconfident

I suspect that it was about more than the performance. Mid-season firings at coaching positions are usually about other issues.
And this was his first year at tennessee - dude coached FOUR GAMES and got fired.

This wasn't about on the field performance, unless Pruitt is basically admitting he made a terrible hire.

That’s the reason I was wondering if they had an analyst on staff with D Line coaching experience. You know Pruitt is involved with Ansley & DB’s. Now he doing that, plus head coach, plus d-line? Is Pruitt also going to paint the end zones for the game Saturday?

Like others, I smell a doughnut muncher in the background.

I take it as a bit weird as well ... its definitely a gamble. UGA already owns the head to head win against them so they would have to win out PLUS hope that UGA loses to 2 East division teams. Anything is possible but err the window for error is pretty slim.

So I wonder, historically how many teams actually improve after an inter season firing? I wouldn't think it would be a lot.
No chance whatsoever of them winning the East. It would have been one thing for them to have lost to say, Florida, last week. But losing, badly, to Kentucky, is never a harbinger of good things to come. The pain has only just begun for Tennessee.
