“He deserved it because he, of all people, knew what to expect when he got into this business,” Terry Bowden wrote in his weekly Yahoo.com comments.

Hmmm, might be interesting around Ann Bowden’s table at the next family get-together.
Guess they'll be fighting over more than a turkey leg. ;)

It is one thing to say that Tommy should be able to understand his firing, but to suggest that he deserved it? That is harsh coming from your own brother. It was probably time for a change at Clemson, but there are a lot worse head coaches out there than Tommy Bowden...

Yeah, pretty harsh there. He goes on to say that Clemson deserves to win the conference at least once in a ten year period, not sure what his motivation is but someone (maybe mom) needs to shut him up.

i was told several years ago by a relative in tallahassee that there was no love lost between terry and tommy!
I'm not saying this is not true, but it's the first I heard of it. Sometimes that sibling rivalry can be rough. :eek2:

When it came out that he "resigned," I couldn't help but think of this:

(It pains me to say this because he was an Aubie) I actually think that Terry is the better of them when it comes to coaching. He probably should get a look by Clemson.

I took the "deserved" part of it as more of a response to Cullen Harper's "He got what he deserved" quote.

If not, he's really throwing ole Terry under the bus on this one.

I tend to agree with what Terry says on the subject though...nobody knows the nature of the business more than the Bowden boys...

I think they're both excellent coaches. Clemson now begins the musical chairs process much like we did. I think they'll live to regret this decision.

Well, Terry should be an expert in knowing whether someone deserves to be fired. Because he was fired.

I have an idea for them though. They should unite into one person and form one coach. Terry is better at game planning, while Tommy is better at recruiting. Instead of two smaller mediocre coaches, we would have one giant mediocre coach. We could even call this coach T. Bowden.

Terry will be lucky to get a look from a Div II school, Sub division or whatever it is now, and should be glad to take it. Out as long as he's been, he'll have to take what he can get. Tommy will have other opportunities.
Maybe they could go in together and get one of those directional schools. :) RTR

After reading that article, I don't think he threw his brother under the bus at all.

He stated that Tommy knew what the expectations were, didn't meet them; and, thus, deserved what happened. However, it didn't seem the intent was malicious to me.

I would never have done that to my brother. No even close. Sounds like Tater Tot is jealous and had an ax to grind.
