If any school even interviews him they can be classified as desperate.
Unfortunately, it seems that Georgia Tech may now fall under this category. Sportsline is now reporting that Bowden's meeting with Tech went very well.

I'd rather have Rick Neuheisel than Bowden.

The theory on the Tech boards is that the leak at this time could a) put pressure on Johnson to come to a decision and b) make a Neuheisel hire more palatable. LOL, they also have a theory that the meeting was held in the VIP room of the Cheetah.

I am a bit suspicious of this. The timing of this interview seems kind of strange. Why would Georgia Tech interview Bowden while their #1 candidate Paul Johnson (and the guy who eventually took the job) was mulling over thier contract offer on the same day? There isn't a rush to hire Terry Bowden, so they could have talked with him the next day if Johnson turned them down. I think Georgia Tech was only trying to do him a favor and help him get his name out there. I don't think that they considered him for a minute. Kind of like the Dolphins did for Mike Shula last year.

No, sorry. He isn't HC material...and not a good recruiter, IMO. I like him, though...but that isn't enough to say he'd be a good fit.
And you evaluate talent for HC spots? Please, Tyrone is a great coach and would have been a much better hire than any listed on this thread. Also, if USM does this serach without interviewing some coaches of color, there will be some questions coming their way.

First of all, he DID interview...so there goes the "coaches of color" argument. Secondly, I follow USM closely, since my family's income is dependent on USM...and I know the general consensus...and also the results from which the consensus is collected. He is not HC material...at least not as far as USM is concerned.

Will Paul Johnson do?

Paul Johnson has agreed to terms to become the next coach at Georgia Tech.Paul Johnson will be the next head coach at Georgia Tech, JacketsOnline.com has learned. Johnson, currently the head coach at Navy, came to terms with Tech Friday morning.

Johnson had interviewed in recent days for the openings at Tech, SMU and Duke and had been mulling offers from all three schools.

It is believed Johnson's deal at Tech includes a six-year contract worth about $14 million.
