No, sorry. He isn't HC material...and not a good recruiter, IMO. I like him, though...but that isn't enough to say he'd be a good fit.If they don't hire Tyrone Nix, it wil be a shame. He would be the perfect fit.
Unfortunately, it seems that Georgia Tech may now fall under this category. Sportsline is now reporting that Bowden's meeting with Tech went very well.If any school even interviews him they can be classified as desperate.
If Tater Tot wants the reins at FSU, this is certainly a back door approach. Tommy could possibly end up there someday, but I doubt Terry could make the sell.If this is true, its for only one reason. He wants the FSU head job, even though its promised to Jimbo.
I am a bit suspicious of this. The timing of this interview seems kind of strange. Why would Georgia Tech interview Bowden while their #1 candidate Paul Johnson (and the guy who eventually took the job) was mulling over thier contract offer on the same day? There isn't a rush to hire Terry Bowden, so they could have talked with him the next day if Johnson turned them down. I think Georgia Tech was only trying to do him a favor and help him get his name out there. I don't think that they considered him for a minute. Kind of like the Dolphins did for Mike Shula last year.Unfortunately, it seems that Georgia Tech may now fall under this category. Ironically, the Dolphins did the same for Chan Gailey as well. It's kind of sad that Gailey actually thought that he had a shot at either the Dolphins or Steelers job.I don't think that they considered him for a minute. Kind of like the Dolphins did for Mike Shula last year.
And you evaluate talent for HC spots? Please, Tyrone is a great coach and would have been a much better hire than any listed on this thread. Also, if USM does this serach without interviewing some coaches of color, there will be some questions coming their way.No, sorry. He isn't HC material...and not a good recruiter, IMO. First of all, he DID interview...so there goes the "coaches of color" argument. Secondly, I follow USM closely, since my family's income is dependent on USM...and I know the general consensus...and also the results from which the consensus is collected. He is not HC material...at least not as far as USM is concerned. And you evaluate talent for HC spots? Will Paul Johnson do?Unfortunately, it seems that Georgia Tech may now fall under this category. Sportsline is now reporting that Bowden's meeting with Tech went very well.
I'd rather have Rick Neuheisel than Bowden.
The theory on the Tech boards is that the leak at this time could a) put pressure on Johnson to come to a decision and b) make a Neuheisel hire more palatable. LOL, they also have a theory that the meeting was held in the VIP room of the Cheetah.
