Jax State looked into it a couple years ago but apparently decided not to do it. I was surprised to learn when that was proposed that beer sales are legal at NCAA events. I think it is fairly common up north.

If you're asking if we should have it at Bama games, put me down as undecided. I don't go to games and even if I did, I probably wouldn't buy too many beers at the high price they'd probably charge. People get drunk off flasks they sneak in already, so I doubt that would be a big problem. I suppose it could be a liability issue, but the vendor contract could be written so it was all on them.

Is their attendance down? It seems like Texas is just looking for attention week after week. Maybe they should paint their field burnt orange.

I don't drink, but I feel we should sell beer.

That being said... it's never going to happen, not in this state. There are still counties that don't sell alcohol period. The state legislature isn't going to allow The state university to sell. Perhaps if BDS were operated and owned by the city of Tuscaloosa and not the University, it would be a different story.

As far as BDS goes, people that want to drink alcohol are going to drink alcohol. PERIOD! Whether they sneak it in, or pay $15 for it at the concession stand. Might as well make it available and at least get some revenue from it.

The was a brief period of time when I was in my last couple of years of school at bama that you could buy beer at one or two of the eateries at the ferguson center. I was even able to use my dining card to get it.

This - Anyone that wants to drink at games is already drinking at games. Righteous indignation has no place in sports or business.

It would appear that texas may be in the desperation mode now that the SEC has a gained a rather sizable foot hold in the state. Looking for ways to increase revenue and differentiate themselves from TAMU. I don't care what Dodds and Brown do you still have to win games and until those to are replaced texas will be an also ran.

Get the Longhorn fans drunk and maybe they will overlook the confused Texas team.
(Guys on the field will probably lobby to drink when they are on the bench ;))

Texas problems began long ago, but escalated when we beat them in the BCS Game.
An over the hill coach and poor recruiting also diminished the TX brand.

Then... Texas problems went into free fall last year when TAMU apparently became the 'Big Boy' in the state of Texas.
TAMU joining the SEC and the politics in Texas gave TX an out to avoid competition.
Mack Browns grand plan is apparently to muddle around TX another couple of years living off past 'Glory'.

Considering all this... Maybe they should sell the fans beer,
they have been driven to drink. ;)

Oh the good old days of sneaking flasks of Jim Beam and sticking them in my sock. One time I was frisked by a UAPD officer and he took one from me and winked. He knew there was two!

I like my beer and my bourbon and coke on game day. Even now, I love The Strip, and no game is complete without a visit to Egan's. And it's true that people smuggle alcohol into the stadium. It's almost an honored tradition in the student section, and I sure did it when I was in school.

But it's a mistake to have it freely available for sale in the stadium. Yes, there are drunks now. But just wait 'til they don't have to do anything much to get it.

Especially on a hot day, you'll have people up and down all the time -- either getting more beer or going to the bathroom or both. Our fan base already tends to be a bit reactionary when things aren't going well. Imagine what they'll yell out when they have a little extra fire water in them.

I enjoy alcohol in just about all its forms -- beer on a hot day, or just because the work day is done. A good bottle of wine adds immeasurably to a meal, and on a cold winter night, nothing warms like a Lagavulin on the rocks.

But Bryant-Denny is not the place for beer sales. It would change the character of the experience, and make it more like a pro game, which tends to be rougher, coarser, and not an especially great place to take kids.

You put ice in lagavulin?!? For shame ;). (Just picked up a fresh bottle from duty free coming home from my last trip )

Well as high as the price of beer at the concession stand will be, those that sneak whiskey in now will continue. If selling beer could raise enough money to keep ticket prices from going up I say do it! ;)

While I like a beer now and again and wine more often, I don't think it is a good idea to mix alcohol with emotionally-stressed fans. A recipe for disaster in the making.

I would hate to see it happen. The only time I have ever seen a real fight at an Alabama game was when we played FSU in Jax. Beer was sold because it was a pro stadium. Just ruins it for the family. RTR

Am I wrong in thinking that this is a conference decision? IOW, the U if A couldn't just 'decide' to start selling beer?

And not to sound hypocritical, because I have snuck my fair share of brown water into BDS, but I think it would be a bad decision to sell beer.
