I just want to say thank you Coach Grant for doing what you had to do to gain control of this team. We as fans may never know what went on behind close doors but we were all aware that a problem existed and it was manifesting itself onto the court. We have witnessed a terrific growth in the team overall and this team seems to be headed in a direction we can all be proud of. Just for a reference point, we control our own destiny from here on out with 1 junior (eblen), 3 sophomores (releford, moussa & engstrom, & 4 freshman (coop, jacobs, lacey & levi) providing much of the contributions. We seem prepared to be successful for a long time. Our future is very bright. Now that i think about it, our present looks good too. Now lets go beat Ms st. roll tide.

Keep in mind Alabama was ranked as high as #12 and were preseason around #17. Part of what went on was after the Mitchell suspension was various team members and 1 in particular maintained a dialogue with said player to the dismay of CAG. Mitchell deserved the suspension but the inability of CAG to have the capability to earn the respect of certain players at a crucial point in the season reflects on the character element of the recruiting process. Sometimes these suspensions are truly warranted. The question then becomes how does the coach use the suspensions to eventually put the team back to a position of strength and viability. Assuming arguendo this team was hitting on all cylinders with a full compliment of personnel it could reasonably be calculated that a run to New Orleans was very plausible.

I can't state all that I know, but the team was never ordered to shun Mitchell...

Taking all that into consideration, this team was in a funk before the suspensions even took place. And now we seem to be doing what all coaches want out of their teams, to be playing their best in february and march.

This a great interview with Shaka. Its all about ACL. Shaka is a unique and special talent as a coach and human being. Great run last year for VCU to the Final 4 and this year they may also get in. Good luck to Alabama. The potential has always been there for this group of players from the opening tip of the season. It would be great to see the team piece things together.
