Is there any truth that the BLM wants to take the Hammonds land? I've heard that bantered around by some talking heads. If they do, then there may be some justification to stand up. Again, I don't know if that's true.
I understand that there have been efforts for some time to purchase their land for addition to the refuge. I don't know that would justify what's being done by outsiders. In fact, the Hammonds have specifically disavowed any connection with or approval of what Bundy and crew are doing...Is there any truth that the BLM wants to take the Hammonds land? If Ammon Bundy and other Mormons involved in taking over a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon believe their religion is backing them, they should reconsider.
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "strongly condemn the armed seizure of the facility," spokesman Eric Hawkins said in a news release Monday, "and are deeply troubled by the reports that those who have seized the facility suggest that they are doing so based on scriptural principles."
The release further states that "this armed occupation can in no way be justified on a scriptural basis."
Americans "are privileged to live in a nation where conflicts with government or private groups can  and should  be settled using peaceful means, according to the laws of the land."
Interesting, had never read this.good article though since it was written for a largely LDS audience it insinuates that Joseph Smith was murdered because he ran for President and not for the real, and much more interesting reasons https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauvoo_Expositor
i dont think the bundy brain trust spent a lot of time gaming out this scenario
Please be sure to send only high-fiber snacks so they will remain (wait for it) a well-regulated militia...
:biggrin2:
That's what they keep saying. However, the Harnley County sheriff this AM said "no." Paraphrasing his remarks, he said that he personally didn't feel like anyone should be given land (contrary to the Bundy remarks of "back to the people"), but he said that many people were upset with the government for "overreaching." It doesn't look like the Bundys have a great deal of support from the general population, or, at least, not around there...i dont think the bundy brain trust spent a lot of time gaming out this scenario
Interesting, had never read this.
