My issue with any so-called fact checking instrument is that it is the job of people to think for themselves, not anyone to go with “let’s put a little more of our spin on the ball.”

Candy Crowley’s inserting herself into that debate between Obama and Romney forever ended the notion of impartial fact checking, particularly when she actually admitted hours later (but with few of the millions of viewers now watching) that Romney was “right in the main” but “used the wrong word.” I was never a Zombie fan but that infamous incident when there were so many things that could have been scrutinized on both sides with dangling participles destroyed that idea for anyone except the most partisan Dem.

(And no, it’s not why Romney lost; the only thing hurt for real was the credibility of CNN).

Lies shouldn't be allowed to masquerade as facts no matter who says them or who does the checking.
