The Decline of the DNC II

I suppose if you want to spend the money, you could always read Tapper's new book. Or save your money and remind yourself that this coverup had started before the 2020 election. There's a reason he barely campaigned. And look, at the time I wasn't happy with Trump after the whole COVID fiasco so that made it easy to vote for neither of these guys. I knew I wouldn't, so I wasn't reading something into Biden's behavior, speech and body language that wasn't there because of an agenda of justifying a vote for Trump like so many of Biden's other critics.

Truth is, Biden scared me. A lot of people wrote off his weirdness as "gaffes" an presented them as harmless, but anyone with experience with this sort of thing knows better. This man was in charge of the U.S. military for God's sake! And what's worse, he looked and sounded feeble from the get. I don't usually agree with Trump when he stands up and brags about himself (it's extremely repulsive.) I do, however, agree with him that Putin likely doesn't invade Ukraine if Trump is still in office.

I could go on and on about this, but I won't. And let me be clear: once I realized what was really happening in the White House, I was far less contemptuous towards Biden. In the end, the only emotion I could really generate for the guy was pity. I more or less shifted my contempt to the people who were clearly manipulating him (starting with his wife.)
I have Tapper’s book preordered and look forward to reading it.
I have no doubt that Biden was affected by his age from the start of his term, but that doesn’t mean that he wasn’t capable of governing. And I’m equally sure that there were ongoing efforts from before the election to minimize the appearance of those effects. However, the assertion that he wasn’t truly acting as president for his entire term is still one of which I have yet to see evidence.
Was Biden as capable to serve in 2021 as he was in 2001 (or even 2016)? There’s no question that he had declined, but I still think that he was the person in charge until the latter part of his term. Maybe Tapper’s book (or that of someone else who was there) will say otherwise, in which case I’ll change my view.

Considering how severely Harris attacked Biden in the primary, I have to question how much of the Harris decision was really his. Word around the campfire is that Biden did not like Harris and never did.

I can totally believe this and who could blame him? Harris all but said, "You're a lyncher, Joe." And I get politics is rough and tumble - but there are certain lines you don't cross. "You're a racist" basically would once have been enough to end the hopes of someone who wanted the DEMOCRATIC nomination. And she never said those words, but she absolutely got the attention she wanted.

From what I've read - and I don't have any sources close to this one:
- Biden's first mistake was saying he was going to name "a woman" as his running mate
- ask yourself how many women would QUALIFY even in the Democratic Party...Hillary (never), Klobuchar, Harris maybe, Cantwell (and who even knew who she was?), Baldwin maybe, Warren (hell no)...and other than "she's cute and from Michigan", I don't get the infatuation with Gretchen Whitmer. I mean, women want to be taken seriously but let's face it: Janet Napolitano isn't getting any calls for VP

It's not like he needed Harris to carry California. But I also know he was pressured from his buddy Clyburn to pick a black female and that basically left Harris, Susan Rice (who stunk of Benghazi), and Stacey Abrams, who wasn't even a safe bet to carry Georgia.

I mean, I get it; hindsight is 20/20 given that we now know that Biden was actually in charge of very little during his presidency, but even at the time, I found his choice to be eyebrow-raising considering her poll numbers when she mercifully dropped out of the race.

This canard.

Funny. I've heard the exact same claim made about Reagan ("Bush was really President for 12 years"), Dubya (Dick Cheney), and (wait for it).....Obama.

Who was Obama's VP again????

After all, Congress isn’t suing to seek the judge’s protection.

Look who is suing: the nation’s four largest public employee unions, including the American Federation of Government Employees and the Service Employees International Union — despairing that Trump’s layoffs will cut into the dues they collect, and mean more work for members still on the job.

This is a lawsuit to protect the gravy train.

Obvious editorial is obvious, but there is much to agree with here. (Starting with the fact that Mark Elias is a scumbag.)

Democrats introduce reparations resolution

I'm sure the white majority country that the Democrats just told me six months ago is racist and sexist is going to SIGN RIGHT UP for this one..........

Gotta love the timing. Do bills like this ever come up when Dems are completely in charge? I'm only guessing, but I'll assume they do not. (Kinda like codifying Roe.) I realize that Dems are desperate to win back the voters of color they keep losing, but considering how many saltine-Americans they'll likely turn off with nonsense like this, I have to assume it will be a wash.

Yes. The late Sheila Jackson Lee took time out from her telling people the Constitution is 400 years old, the moon is mostly made of gases and can we see the flag the astronauts planted on Mars to proposed... (You'd be able to recall these like a rolodex had Boebert or MTG or Palin been this dumb).

Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans Act (2021; 117th Congress H.R. 40) - GovTrack.us

Can't raise money from the fringe if you deliver. Same with the pro-lifers.

Newsom is clearly running for President as a conservative.

Huh. No manufactured outrage when this went nowhere? Did the media fall asleep or something?

THANK YOU! I've only been screaming this for forever, but most everyone pooh-poohs the notion that hot-ticket items like abortion rights must remain in the public consciousness to keep those donor-dollars rolling in. Actually fixing issues will cause loss of political capital and that's no good. If those assclowns in D.C. actually solved problems, they wouldn't have a platform upon which to run.

In fairness to them, however, it does appear that a lot of American voters don't really want solutions. They aren't happy unless they are angry, anxious or fearful about what the antagonists in their life narrative are doing. So I guess, in a way, they are giving at least some voters what they want: something to complain about.

Credit where credit's due, at least he can see why his side is losing bigly. I'm sure he will have his "I've seen the light" moment when it's politically expedient to do so. Whether or not the people believe him remains to be seen.

Senate Democrats and Republicans trade places on the filibuster — again
GOP leaders seek to defy parliamentarian’s warnings in attempt to overturn California clean air standards.

@selmaborntidefan, this article could have been written by you.

Maher - can’t link due to language - did a similar “finally, new rule” and ripped left and right both over things like the left loving Teslas 6 months ago to now the right is touting them because Musk.

One thing l learned long ago - both parties have impossible solutions they propose and scapegoats they blame when what they don’t really want to pass fails. This very subject came up at work with a subordinate yesterday at with as we push up against a bureaucracy preventing us from solving some easily resolved problems.

BREAKING: Senator Bernie Sanders just revealed that Democrats are a threat to Democracy.

Akaash: “There hasn't been a fair primary for the Democrats since 2008. Are they not also a threat to democracy?”

Bernie: “Yeah, I'm not going to argue with that”

I can't help but think of this sort of thing whenever I hear the contemptable phrase, "threat to our demoooooocracy." It's a tired phrase that has lost all meaning.

That's what they are counting on, for sure. Look how that worked out for the racism accusation. It's so overdone now, no one with a functional brain pays attention to it anymore. The net result? Real racism is going to take off because the warnings and accusations now fall on deaf ears. It's a damn (and utterly predictable) shame.
