I have Tapper’s book preordered and look forward to reading it.I suppose if you want to spend the money, you could always read Tapper's new book. Or save your money and remind yourself that this coverup had started before the 2020 election. There's a reason he barely campaigned. And look, at the time I wasn't happy with Trump after the whole COVID fiasco so that made it easy to vote for neither of these guys. I knew I wouldn't, so I wasn't reading something into Biden's behavior, speech and body language that wasn't there because of an agenda of justifying a vote for Trump like so many of Biden's other critics.
Truth is, Biden scared me. A lot of people wrote off his weirdness as "gaffes" an presented them as harmless, but anyone with experience with this sort of thing knows better. This man was in charge of the U.S. military for God's sake! And what's worse, he looked and sounded feeble from the get. I don't usually agree with Trump when he stands up and brags about himself (it's extremely repulsive.) I do, however, agree with him that Putin likely doesn't invade Ukraine if Trump is still in office.
I could go on and on about this, but I won't. And let me be clear: once I realized what was really happening in the White House, I was far less contemptuous towards Biden. In the end, the only emotion I could really generate for the guy was pity. I more or less shifted my contempt to the people who were clearly manipulating him (starting with his wife.)
I have no doubt that Biden was affected by his age from the start of his term, but that doesn’t mean that he wasn’t capable of governing. And I’m equally sure that there were ongoing efforts from before the election to minimize the appearance of those effects. However, the assertion that he wasn’t truly acting as president for his entire term is still one of which I have yet to see evidence.
Was Biden as capable to serve in 2021 as he was in 2001 (or even 2016)? There’s no question that he had declined, but I still think that he was the person in charge until the latter part of his term. Maybe Tapper’s book (or that of someone else who was there) will say otherwise, in which case I’ll change my view.
