But not as major nominees on the ticket.

Janet Napolitano's politics are largely indistinguishable from those of Hillary Clinton. Janet had been in more powerful offices than Hillary (up until Secretary of State) - Arizona AG, reelected in a largely red state as governor, director of Homeland Security......I sure as hell don't recall anyone suggesting Napolitano was a future President based on her "experience," much less her experience in 2008 (which at the time was more than Hillary).Adam Carolla earned a tremendous amount of ire when he posed the following question on his podcast, "If AOC was fat and sixty years old, would ANYONE care about anything she said?" We all know the answer, but this sort of thing can only be said by people who can't be canceled.
Not in the TV era.I've seen worse.
But not as major nominees on the ticket.
I assumed that went without saying but yes, important caveat. Not in the TV era.
I always wondered about how Republicans would react if the roles were reversed. A narcissistic liberal with over 30 felony charges. Just imagine the outrageNope.
But she is attractive, photogenic on TV.
Same with AOC.
This is part of why I think "policy" is largely a joke. Remember: about 1 out of every 7 Bernie voters THAT VOTED pulled the lever for Donald Trump; they weren't socialists, and they weren't Republicans who were trying to sabotage Hillary, they were basically "I want to watch the world burn" people.
When Bush picked Quayle in 1988, one of the consultants was on the floor and interviewed by Elizabeth Drew of "The New Yorker". He said, "Quayle's ideology is okay but that only matters (tiny pinch fingers) that much." The brutal reality is that if you flipped Harris to the GOP as nominee and Trump to the Democrats, the vote totals of about 80% of their voters would flip based on the party, not the policy.
Is that why you never see any homeless supermodels? Or, maybe there's some in CaliforniaJanet Napolitano's politics are largely indistinguishable from those of Hillary Clinton. Janet had been in more powerful offices than Hillary (up until Secretary of State) - Arizona AG, reelected in a largely red state as governor, director of Homeland Security......I sure as hell don't recall anyone suggesting Napolitano was a future President based on her "experience," much less her experience in 2008 (which at the time was more than Hillary).
And it's not like Hillary was good-looking, but compared to most of the female officeholders at the time she wasn't bad.
Amy Klobuchar's high stock as Presidential nominee is entirely based on the fact she's a decent looking woman. Same with Gretchen Whitmer. And before anyone thinks I'm sexist, the same is true of MEN. John Engler was the Senate leader of the Michigan state senate and served TWELVE YEARS as governor of one of the most purple states in the nation. He was a pro-life Catholic who signed an (overturned) severely restrictive abortion law.
Literally NOBODY ever said, "We should nominate John Engler as President."
Because when you're bald and fat, it doesn't matter how ideologically rigorous you are or how good your law school grades or the fact you can lock down Michigan for the party.
What matters is how you look.
Now - do the other one.I always wondered about how Republicans would react if the roles were reversed. A narcissistic liberal with over 30 felony charges. Just imagine the outrage
And yes, Republicans would lose their collective intestinal contents.I always wondered about how Republicans would react if the roles were reversed. A narcissistic liberal with over 30 felony charges. Just imagine the outrage
Democrats told to "get shot" for the anti-Trump resistance
Well imagine THAT! I guess setting cars on fire and pelting ICE agents with rocks doesn't have the same impact when being done by the rank-and-file. Now they want their elected leaders to do this, too? I know these people are nuts, but they can't be this unserious.....can they?
And it doesn't end there. These fake ideologues expect us to take them seriously when THEY are the ones using private planes to fly to climate change conferences. THEY are the ones who eat whatever they want while telling us peons to stop eating red meat.....you know, for the environment. THEY are the ones telling us that the coastlines are going to be covered up with water, but are still buying beachfront property. THEY are the ones who are going to make the world a better place, even if they have to spend every last buck of OUR money to do it.I missed this part yesterday, but it's not a shock:
Many lawmakers said these voters tend to be white, well-educated and live in upscale suburban or urban neighborhoods.
OF COURSE they are!!!
People willing to send OTHER people off to get shot in wars overseas will also be willing to send them to get shot here in the USA. The term "limousine liberal" was always too kind for these "you break the law FOR me" folks.
Hypocrisy by rich elites doesn't mean that climate change is fake. And it doesn't end there. These fake ideologues expect us to take them seriously when THEY are the ones using private planes to fly to climate change conferences. And our "well-educated suburbanites" just keep falling for this BS over and over and over again, proving once again that being educated doesn't make one intelligent. And so of course they believe all the fascism nonsense being spewed by their fellow "warriors" who only want to "protect democracy." It's easy to believe in something when you can get someone else to do all the work and take all the risks. The dog sweater crowd has apparently run out of patience with the poors to do their part. Lets see if we can get the public servants to do it, too.![]()
I never said it was. Climate change is as old as the planet itself; of course it's real.Hypocrisy by rich elites doesn't mean that climate change is fake.
And anthropogenic climate change is real. That's what's happening now.I never said it was. Climate change is as old as the planet itself; of course it's real.
Climate change is real.Hypocrisy by rich elites doesn't mean that climate change is fake.
Especially when you see countries like India industrializing (the cheapest way to get that energy is coal and oil) and China, who has doubled their power generation ability in the last decade, 80% of which comes from coal.Climate change is real.
But the brutal truth is that if we couldn't get millions to wear a mask or take a shot then let's not pretend we can regulate the behavior of everyday human beings in one country much less 200 and somehow correct it, either. At this point we could never spend another dime on climate change and we'd get about 90% of the same results.
Yeah, but you're not allowed to make that point because reasons.Ultimately, it really doesn’t matter how much you work to minimize poisoning the river when the cities upstream continually increase the amount of poison they dump into it.
Truth.Yeah, but you're not allowed to make that point because reasons.
Good luck with that!Truth.
That said, I'm a conservationist (within reason) - as a Christian I believe we should do the best we can to take care of this planet God has given us. But I also believe humans are the most resilient creatures in existence and will always figure out how to mitigate the long-term results of our short term choices.
Considering we have no control over how others treat the planet, all we can do is do our best with our little corner and solve the problems that arise - really, this holds true whether one believes humans are causing global warming or not.
You think climate change is going to wipe out humanity? Considering humans have figured out how to live on every continent I'd suggest you're underestimating our collective ability to survive...Good luck with that!
Humans are the most adaptable species that has ever existed. We will figure it out.You think climate change is going to wipe out humanity? Considering humans have figured out how to live on every continent I'd suggest you're underestimating our collective ability to survive...
