The Fumble

The announcers said it was a fumble, but after the next play they had a different angle and it appeared to me his knee was down. Of course the did not want to comment on it maybe because it took so long to find an angle to view, but I have Tivo and I played it back several times and it looked like his knee was down.

If you saw the replay from the front after Ole Miss had run a play it clearly showed Darbys knee was down!
I wondered why the play was not reviewed?

From what I understand, every "play" is reviewed. By the comments viewed here it would have been difficult for the Ref to over-turn the call on the field.

From the angle I saw his Knee was down. I thought it odd they didn't even review, because when Ole Miss fumbled earlier it was much clearer that is was a fumble and yet they spent much more time reviewing it and CBS kept showind different angles. I thought KB's fumble was deserving of at least a review just to clear it up and make the right call, either way. Even CBS commentators didn't even pursue anything further after the play. Anyway based on what I saw it was not conclusive that the ball came out before. I'll let it go at that.

The play would have been hard to overturn, but either way in a 10-10 tie 4th qt the play has got to be reviewed.Unless your the visiting team.

It looked like his knee might have been down when I watched the replay yesterday...love the title of the thread, is that gonna be Moore's next print after The Catch?

I just watched it on my computer again, and I'm fairly sure it was a fumble.

It looks to me on one angle that he starts losing control of the ball slightly before the knee hits. However, the ball bounces down, not out, so it doesn't come in to view from other angles until after his knee is down.

Thanks for helping clear that up for me. My only problem was that it should have been reviewed since the game was so close. Glad the right call was made.

This thread is hilarious....

It was a fumble, no it wasn't........which is it? Assuming it was a fumble, it is funny how we see things through our "crimson glasses"..... :)

I don't/didn't have a problem with the call. I was a bit upset that they didn't stop play for a few seconds to review it more carefully...

Yes, this thread poinst out that it should have been reviewed. FWIW, I thought it was a fumble, but the weakness of the replay system now is when it is not employed. Even if it was right, it should have been reviewed. Only SEC refs could screw it up with a review.

My only point was that the Ole Miss fumble was REVIEWED. KB's was not. I guess the ref had a better view of that one. They spent two minutes figuring out if the OM player fumbled when it was actually pretty clear that he did. I just found that to be odd in a close game. No problem with call. It seems it was the right one.
