the interception that wasn't- discuss

Hate to say it, but I believe it was the right call. Williams never had complete possession.

One heck of a play by Reid; not really a gaffe on Williams' part.

I think you got hosed.

I think you are right. I don't see how the Refs did not overturn that on replay. If you watch it in slow motion, the LSU guy only had one hand on it when they hit the ground. His right hand is clearly not on the ball. That was a terrible call. If Bama would have scored there the game would have been over.

I will say I thought #7 should have gotten a personal foul clocking Dre away from the play...it was blatant. But in terms of field position, I don't think it would have mattered.

The call was correct. Williams was losing control as he went down. You have to control the ball after you hit the ground for a completed catch and the only guy who did that was Reid. Never should have happened as the play never should have been called to begin with. How in the world, with the game on the line, that the best player on the field (Trent) doesn't get the ball in that situation is beyond me. I love Coach Saban, but this was one of his worst called games in terms of big strategic decisions that I've seen in a while.

It was the correct call . Williams never had total control of the ball on his way down so there was no way it was going to be overturned . Let's not play the sore loser card :...
There should be a way to "LIKE TWICE".
But as for my two cents, the ball never touched the ground and the receiver did not have control of the ball as he hit the ground.

The receiver was down. !st and goal BAMA. Bogus block in the back on Barron's int. 1st and goal BAMA. Why wasn't LSU's beloved "honeybadger" thrown out of the game. The best team was wearing CRIMSON. Why in all big games do the officials wind up making stupid calls that directly effect the outcome of a game. The players should win or lose a game, not some overzealous amateur in prime time. LSU tackled the helmet probably 50 percent of the time. I thought CBS was gonna hold a parade for Eric Reid. LSU is a bunch of dirty trash talking thugs. I gotta go before I get mad and say what I'm really thinking.
And by the way A.J. was by far the best QB on the field.

he had a pretty bad day throwing IMO..not saying much

I thought he was down when he hit the ground - and that the thugSU player took it away after that point. should've been first and goal

Bingo.

And that's the bittersweet part of the whole thing. I don't doubt for one second that we don't punch it in with four tries from the one. As much as we self-destructed, still coulda/shoulda won the game.

I think it was a bad call but the one I thought was worse was us taking the ball 1st it OT You should always take it 2nd so you can see what the other team is going to do.

That was painful to watch as the officials gave the call to LSU. But I'm not gonna blame the loss on this play. We picked off LSU and returned the ball inside the 5 yard line. Block in the back penalties killed us on the return.

They won the toss and elected to play D. We didn't have a choice. As for the INT, Bad call. We got screwed on that one.

All I can say is that I agree that the right call was NOT to overturn the call on the field, but I think the same would have been true had it been ruled a completion. I couldn't tell for sure one way or the other - if the ball was loose at the moment Williams was down or not.
Either way, game over, we lost, and it sucks, but it is what it is. I'll try to not focus on what could have been, because man, there were so many blown chances. If any one of six or seven plays turned out differently, we could have won. Oh well.

the interception call on the goal line won/lost the game. and seeing it multiple times in slow motion, i thought it was a 50/50 call. we should have won the game with our kicking game regardless of the int call. LSU didnt win it, we gave it to them, and that is what disgusts me the most

My real problem with it was them saying replay "confirmed" the call. I think if the call on the field had been a completion it would have been upheld as well, so the proper verbage should have been the call "stands" not "confirmed."
