Looks to me like the Mack kid transferring in would be ahead of everyone starting out. Maybe the light is ready to come on for him. This first year will be really important for DeBoer. He needs to get off on the right foot to help recruiting.
I think he's a redshirt freshman with 4 years of eligibility. Not sure he's ahead of anyone.

You guessed it. It was Freddie.
Passes from Fat Freddie stung every time.
From what I've heard Freddie has became a good NFL coach.
Sorry, I should of said ahead in familiarity with Grubbs offense. No, I didn't mean starting.
He's definitely "ahead" of anybody on the roster in his knowledge of Grubbs/Doboer's system. And if you watch his HS coach break down their system he may be ahead of some of the guys on our roster who's shown a real weakness for understanding how to read a defense.

And, a few have made comments about his height. A tall QB has a distinct advantage in some obvious ways, but chiefly his release point is significantly higher and his vision is greatly improved.

Obviously, short QBs can manage (like Bryce) but taller QBs have an advantage, for sure. I think it was Brady's brain that made him what he was, but standing at 6'4" or so didn't hurt either.

He's had a year learning DeBoer's/Grubb's offense, and still has 4 years eligibility left.
