When he comments on (or acts in response to) various notable events, Donald Trump often responds in ways ranging from head-scratching comments, to vile ones, to irrational and/or self-defeating actions.

Thing is, unless Trump has some control over a governmental response, his comments -- as distasteful as they might be -- don't really address the topic.

His comments on the murders of Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner are just the latest example. There have been countless others.

Rather than derail threads from their true topic, this thread can serve as a place to talk about Donald Trump's craziness and examples thereof.

Alternatively, feel free to start a separate thread on a Trump statement or action that you think is egregious enough to deserve its own.

I just want to be done with his style of politics. To me, his style is poisonous to any kind of reasonable and thoughtful discussion of policy and honest review of facts/data/information. He's a demanding and effective leader in someways, he's a raging toddler with a worldwide megaphone in someways, and he's simply lost in the cornfield on most topics that require deep understanding.

I just hope the next leader we have has some decorum, empathy for the neediest of our country, and stops putting ignorant TV personalities in positions of power.

@4Q Basket Case - I respectfully suggest the thread title be changed to "The Trump-complaint thread".

IMHO, "Trump being Trump" doesn't convey the purpose of the thread.

In fact an argument could be made "Trump being Trump" is how he got elected twice - the second time winning all battleground states.

We do it sometimes for Bama game threads - and it's always been titled a "complaint thread" so there's no misunderstanding about what it is.

Thanks!

It's incredibly discouraging that our society has devolved to the point of electing this moron twice.

He’s an embarrassment when he opens his mouth or tweets on social media.

He is incapable of taking a high road and/or displaying any kind of class or civility.

He cannot resist making everything about himself and/or taking little shots and digs at other people.

He’s truly a narcissist sociopath. Just a Vile human being to his core.

True to a point.

But I think any of us looking to Washington for so-called "moral leadership" or even the notion the President is anything other than a flawed human being is an illusion we kept for far too long. We've elected plenty of empty suits, many of them corrupt.

It's almost like "let's turn the party nominations over to the people" was a colossally stupid idea, although let's admit even the nominations by party bosses misfired about as often.

Also, I think the bigger issue was electing him the second time AFTER January 6th. Like it or not, he followed the path available and won (largely on celebrity) in 2016. If he'd had one ounce of empathy in his body, he probably would have won in 2020, too. But after his incited riot, it should have been the end, too.

it's something that sells like hotcakes to many affinity groups who claim to be completely against this type of thing.

One thing I'm seeing now is cracks in MAGA. Repubicans on the Hill finally starting to catch on to what will happen if millions lose their health coverage (if the ACA subsidies expire). They will be blamed for it, and they should be. They shut down the government because they didnt' want to address the issue.

Trump is a lame duck. And he has surrounded himself with people who refuse to tell him the bad news, refuse to guide him away from stupid stunts and actions. He has a Sec of Defense(um, WAR) who is more interested in getting "likes" to his social media, who by many accounts authorized the killings in Venezuela. In any sane world, he'd be charged with war crimes.

It is going to take decades to repair the damage that he's done. And the damage his hand-picked Supreme Ct has done to our country's laws and jurisprudence.

I can just see the South Park episode looming where the whole country gets a huge enema.

Selma, I'm dating myself, but my first two memories of politics were the shooting of George Wallace and Watergate. The Watergate hearings superseded Gilligan's Island on afternoon TV, so I immediately formed a negative opinion of politics. And it's been steadily downhill since then until 2016, when my political hopes dropped off a cliff, weighed down by the support of this draft dodging, philandering, lying traitorous man. And for what ? A few tax breaks perhaps, or perceived protection from people of color ? As the wonderful David Byrne sings, "This is not my beautiful house", but we bought it again.
