To some, even winning isn't enough.

You had a perfect season. A Heisman Trophy winner and a National Championship. But yet, you still are not happy.

As the Auburn Tigers rushed the field after winning the National Championship...I was somewhat happy for my Auburn loving husband. I mean, hey, everybody wants their team to win right?

But then it happened.

"See, they should have had a shot in 2004! They were robbed! We could have won!...." He yelled.

And on and on and on.

I was so disgusted...I just went to bed.

I reckon that pretty much sums up how a lot of Auburn fans will see this win. Never satisfied and never Happy.

he is upset because he knows the end is near and that trophy will be getting returned soon. even auburn knows their defensive cordinator had no comment when asked about it.

USC would have pounded that 04 Auburn Squad. Somehow they all forget how good that team was and how unimpressive Auburn looked down the stretch. Did they get screwed out of a chance? possibly, it depends on how you view it, but they would not have fared any better in the title game and winning it this year doesn't change any of that.

Good point!

I didn't even think about 2004 after the game. USC may well have beaten us that year -- we will never know. But we wouldn't have fared any worse than Oklahoma did. And we did very well "down the stretch". Our lat 4 games we beat UK 42-10, won at ole miss 35-14, beat UGA 24-6, and won at Alabama 21-13. Then we beat UT 38-28 in Atlanta, but the game wasn't nearly that close.

That was a great team. We may have given USC a run fir their money... Maybe not. It is what it is...

question for you how long does auburn get to keep this so called title? is your answer going to be no comment:biggrin:

I respectfully disagree. I hate the barn. But that 04 team was loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and could have given USC a good game and even could have won. They didn't. USC was NC that year so the story is written. But I can't agree that the barn couldn't have competed.

I agree. However, I will also say that TCU could have beaten either Oregon or Auburn. I think Alabama could have trounced either team on Monday night, especially Oregon. It's not always the best team that wins and I'll say that neither Oregon nor Auburn were the two best teams in America, but they won all the games and that's what counts. I'm not calling for a playoff, but if a 16 team playoff was in place, neither of those teams are in Glendale. It is what it is.

There's no logical reason to think that y'all would have had any more luck against the Trojans than OU did.

You see, USC opened the season in 2003 against y'all in Jerkin-Hair. Besides being in a hostile environment roughly 2,000 miles from home, they were also extremely inexperienced, especially in the skill positions, Matt Leinart was making his first start at QB, Reggie Bush and Lindell White were also making their first starts. On the barner side, Cadillac, Ronnie Brown and Campbell were all seasoned juniors. Result.....USC 23-allbarn 0.

Now, do you really believe that had y'all played USC in the 2004 BCSCG after those young Trojans had accrued two full seasons of experience and playing at a neutral site, you'd have had a real shot at them? I don't and neither do most folks not of the orange and blue persuasion.
