The wave never looked so good - A-Day may be the best Bama moment in a long while.

Sure, it was a Spring Game. It meant nothing and really gave us a minimal glimpse at what the team will be this coming season, but April 21, 2007 will be etched in our minds for the rest of our lives.

It's not often that something as meaningless as a Spring Game can show us things we may have forgotten. The past few years have hurt us in more ways than Wins and Losses, but also tarnished the confidence we once had.

Saturday showed me that fans are tired of expecting to lose games. People will show up to every game, be it Western Kentucky, Auburn, White team, or Crimson team. I can't remember the last time there was such a cohesion among fans in a positive manner. As the media pressure increases, the more we rally behind our team.

IMO, the Spring Game will have a massive ripple effect that we can ride for years to come. From the players right now, to our recruits and players of the future, this shows that NO ONE else cares about their football team than Alabama. We've been down so much, went 6-6 last year, got terrorized by the media for months, and then we got us a real coach and it is obvious it's not only what we needed to win, but to enjoy the game again. There will be no more games we can't win in the 4th quarter, we will be more confident when we walk in BDS with OUR players and OUR team, and it will show on the field.

Standing there in BDS watching the wave go around the stadium, it's never looked so good. Followed by ALA-BAMA across the field, I got goosebumps, and I can only imagine how rewarding it must be for those players.

Let the rivals be jealous, they will never beat that record, and as meaningless as they say it is, it speaks volumes to the team and the recruits.

ROLL TIDE.

Hopefully just until September 2007. :biggrin2:

What do you expect from a bunch that`s killing their trees on goobers corner rolling them with used t.p..

I thought the wave was pretty sweet on Saturday. I normally don't like to do it (just seems cheesy) but it seemed cool at A-Day. It would be sweet if we could coordinate the wave with the long "Roll Tide Roll" right before kick off. That would just look awesome!

On another note, I've been trying so hard since the start of the school year to get my girlfriend to like football. After we had Dreamland post A-Day game, she said that she's looking forward to going to the football games now, since this fall, we're not going to be playing ourselves. She was pretty confused as to what to cheer for and say during the game on Saturday because it was just our team.

Now if only I can get her to enjoy watching SportsCenter with me...

it can be done. i got mine to like going to football games after taking her to some bama and some high school games.

When Caoch spoke at the basketall game (against LSU i think), he specifically talked about the fans "taking ownership".....

I think that A-Day showed everyone that our fans are all doing just that. 92,000+ people came to a spring scrimmage to take note of all the details of the team as if it was their team and they owned. This is what gets me so excited when i think about the numbe of people that went to the game.

Funny, I hate the wave.
It was done more last year at the most inappropriate times, like being behind to duke.
Always wondered who the people were that would rather do the wave than watch the game.
Well Saturday was a practice and if people wanted to do the wave then hey go for it.

Other than the wave A day ruled!!!!!

Like I told my father 95 grand + showed up for the game, nearly 1/4 of them left during the 3rd quarter.

The ownership part I like. I also like to think of it as a Board of Fans the "BOF" if you will, Vote of Confidence. Vote of Support. I cannot understand why fans would leave after one hour. Nearly the length of time it took to get to the stadium..... other than to say "HEY, We are here, and you have our loyal support. Now go and get what we as an Alabama family have been ravaging for, for a decade and a half. I am going to go and beat the traffic and heat."

Ah, come on...the wave is like having shakers, cheering along with the band/cheerleaders, the Ala-bama chants, etc. It's part of energizing the crowd and making it a fun environment. Just go with it and stop being scrooges. ;)

The Wave got started in our section AA upper deck. Guy in front of us stood up and pronounced "Let's get the wave started." Most people at first resisted but I have to give the guy credit for due diligence. Eventually the whole stadium was doing it. My wife and kids loved it and participated. I watched the game through it but thought it was cool. As my son saidto his Mother, "I think that gentleman has been drinkin'." Maybe we all could use a shot of what he was having!

Awesome Day..... That's about all you can really say!! I got to the stadium early to watch warm ups and just survey the attitude of the team... coaches included. 1st qtr stadium was about half full.... After half time I nudged my friends, smiled and said "Can you believe it?! This place is packed and we're doing the freakin wave"!!!
Like others have stated, it was a surreal experience and I hope an omen of great things to come in the next few years. The most electricity I've seen at BDS in a long while...... You would have thought The Viles or the Barn were in town for a real game!!
Coach looked focused and intense. Loved the way he stayed on the field the whole time pretty much. Felt sorry because of the suit and the heat.... but he never flinched at it.

I think he and the team really appreciated the turn out.... maybe a little awe-struck and shocked but appreciative!

ROLL TIDE!!!! A NEW ERA IS UPON US!!!!

My kids will tell you, our family has a tradition of NEVER leaving a game early, win or lose.

We don't get to go to very many, and we paid a lot of money and invested a lot of time to be there. We're not there to get it over with or plan a quick egress, but to support the team and squeeze all the enjoyment we can out of the experience.

If we're way ahead, part of the fun is celebrating with the team afterwards. If we're getting our tails handed to us, well, at least we might get to see one of our guys make a great play, or enjoy the band, or pull for that last "meaningless" touchdown.

I'm not dissing those who like to cut out early. But whether it's a high school game, WVU basketball game (residual loyalties from my nine years in Morgantown  ) , Bama football game, or yes, even an A-Day scrimmage ... we'll be there to the bitter end.

I agree with you Jimbo. Saban has said that everyone needs to do their part to make a championship team. We did our part Saturday to show the players & coaches how much we support what they are trying to accomplish. Believe me, with the atmosphere in BDS on Saturday, there was not doubt in the coaches and player minds on how much we cared..... RTR:BigA:

I'm not a huge fan of the wave either because I"m usually all into the game. However if we are up by thirty it doesn't bother me to much. The thing I liked about it was how loud everybody was getting when it was going around. I think we should do the Ala Bama thing during the game while the other team is on offense. That sounds pretty intimidating.

Like anything else in this country........We the people, make everything. Not the other way around.

The people have spoken..........They say the best come to those who wait.

Haven't we waited long enough? Only a true fan would still be loyal and still bleed CRIMSON,after all we've been through the past few years. IMHO, that's why everyone loves to try to crack our shell but never succeed.

Is it kickoff time yet?

129 Days and counting....And sometimes we save the best for last:) :BigA:
