it like calling a radio show, if you have a dissenting point of view, you're gonna get the short end, they control the microphone. Reporters get to pick what, who, and when they print, you can't argue with them and expect to win.

Kind of like going on a rivals board. You're gonna get smashed.;)

First, 1000+ Bama fans probably emailed him (probably more). Second, the South Park rule of retardation states that 1 out of every 4 people are idiots, therefore he probably received 250+ emails that were written by absolute idiots.

I dont know. Thats good work, rgw, but I think a higher percentage of idiots always seem to go public with the idiocy so the email rate was undoubtedly higher. Its kind of the same situation as the people that get on tv in bad weather.

A much better approach is to not reply at all. Most journalists are looking for a reaction from fans when they write things like that and it drives them crazy if they don't get one.

Never, ever acknowledge Matt Hayes... EVER!

He will be forced to rely on his (lack of) talent to survive and that will be the end of him. He will lose his job, his house, his boyfriend, his Louis Vuitton fanny pack, his pet gerbil, his hot pink Segway and his last three hairs.

Rogaine stock will plummet.

I love it! I do NOT watch South Park, but that is a great line and/or rule of thumb!

oof.....he punished those emailers. Of course, ANY of us could do the same. You get so much material as a writer and you're bound to get a few softballs like those. Like it's already been said, don't respond!!

I think you are being generous...only 250 emails written by absolute idiots? I'd say out of 1000 there may be 250 decently written emails.

And no offense to Sue Ann, but "learn how to rite"? I am guessing Sue Ann is a customer of Rite Way, how 'bout you? :biggrin2:

As someone posted here in the past

because they get the last laugh. Matt Hayes at the Sporting News is having a field day with the emails he got from his recent article.

Ms. Matt Hayes is apparently suffering from PMS
We are our own worst enemy sometimes. When will people learn that the quickest way to prove one of these morons right is to fire off an angry e-mail to them. Not only that, but you end up writing the next column for him. Then you end up getting even more upset. Ignore him, and he goes away.

The best way to handle these jug heads is to invite them down to a good ole contry fish fry. When they get here, just let those idiots who send the emails to have a little chat with them behind the barn. Watch out for the pies around the barn :).

How proud Matt must be for hand-picking 4 (really only 2) idiotic emails and slamming them. If he were a real man, he'd post every response he got, and attempt to respond to each of them in some witty way. The way he did it, he's picking the easy fights. What a tough guy!

Anytime there is a tornado they find the only redneck with no shirt on holding a beer and ask him what happened. Cause he's the only one there. No because it more sensationalized. He's playing the reader for all it's worth.

Handy rule of thumb in journalism holds that if you get one shocked and angry letter from a subscriber (viewer), you can figure there were from four dozen to 100 equally upset and aroused persons out there who didn't bother to write. This becomes a useful tool to gauge your readership or viewership. It also lets you know which hot buttons to push to arouse the masses and increase their attention to you. (It doesn't matter whether the button makes them hate or love you; you want to grab that attention and make it pay.)

At the moment in Alabama the hottest button is Nick Saban. They will keep pounding that button until the letters and emails stop coming. Then they will switch to something else. I marvel at how easy it is to fool some of the people all of the time. This is no new idea. It has been stated and restated several times on this thread already. But there will always be people ready to fall for this sucker punch.

Let the media and rival fans sqwak all they want.... I'm quietly counting the days till the season starts and the vendication of the Crimson Nation begins with the castration of the media/rival's preoccupation with the damnation of our coaching administration!!.....
Damon Wayans would be proud of that one!! LOL!!

Ah, words from a wise one, Pachy! I think I was maybe 13-14 when I fired off a missile about some article by somebody (have no idea about topic) to the "Editor". Next day I saw my stupid letter in print, along with my name, and was forever cured! Information printed in article had already changed, which made my point ill-advised and me look like the stupid nut I was for writing! Never again, I vowed. And I've been faithful ever since! Nice post.
Roll Tide!:BigA:

My guess is someone like Sue Ann being a poser. Not a true Alabama fan. Someone who responds extremely idiotic to this guy to try to continue to make us look bad.......Well I got news for Sue Ann:

We don't need you to make us look bad........we have enough fans in the Alabama fanbase that continue to do that for the rest of us.
C'mon people, let these guys write what they want. They are just words..."sticks and stones" and other stuff.
It's like religion and politics. No one will change their minds about either until they have proof to make them change their minds. And then even that does not matter sometimes. They are so imbedded in their opinions and agendas they could care less about the truth. This guy just seemed to have fallen for Shula's puppy dog lost look and could not believe we would let such a pitiful looking coach go (I smell man crush). Kind of like taking a puppy to the pound because you can't take care of it after it looks at you with those eyes. Sometimes it is for the best.
We will continue to get bashed until Saban shows everyone that he is the right man for this job. And even then................I doubt minds will be changed. However, it sure will be fun watching it unfold and the true jealousy sets in.
To the Bama Nation I say,
Roll Tide Roll!
