Nah I’m on this train now too and I’ve been rooting for Mac to win because he’s the best QB in CFB imo....

But DeVonta Smith is the Best Player in all of CFB regardless of position. He has no real peer at his position either.

I want one of them win the Heisman and the other the Maxwell because those are the two ‘Best Player’ Awards.

The Biletnikoff is already engraved at this point.....

It says “DeVonta Silky Smooth Smith, 1st of his Name, The Golden Gazelle, Destroyer of Secondaries, The Slim Reaper of Death to DB’s careers”
Slim Reaper is best one, he kills DB's at will. Stingley supposed to one of the best shut down guys and 2 yrs running Smith has owned his ass.

That’s so weak...between so few rushing TDs and obvious stat padding, it should be Mac’s to win...how many <5 yd TD passes does Trask have? Saw another 1 yd TD pass last night. I hope everyone sees these things...
The problem - they didn't do it to pad stats - they did it because they can't run the ball - at all. The Gators have one of the worst running attacks that I can ever remember in SEC football.

That's why we'll see how good Trask is against Bama defense, and given how Saban is... We would sell out the pass game and force Florida to run more. That's why I feel good about Mac's chance winning and etc.

True, but 49 passes to 17 runs. Most passes he’s thrown all year. Henry To’To...Tn LB said straight out he was padding his stats yesterday.

Kyle Trask has been good but Mac Jones is the leader right now. Anyone saying otherwise is just crazy imo. If a WR could win it Smitty would definitely be in the conversation he may get an invite

Another one: Heisman Odds After Week 14: Mac Jones Overtakes Kyle Trask as Favorite (sportsbettingdime.com)

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is the sole favorite to win the 2020 Heisman Trophy for the first time this season after going off against LSU in Week 14. The junior QB has surpassed Florida’s Kyle Trask in the odds after leading the Tide to a big 55-17 revenge win over the Tigers.

Jones’ teammate, DeVonta Smith, also saw a major boost in his Heisman odds following another incredible receiving performance. While Smith has entered the top-five, he still remains a +3000 longshot.

I'm moving a discussion over to here because I didn't want to keep hijacking another thread.

I’m defending them because they are not as egregious as many Bama fans believe them to be
I understand that point, and I understand that they are not some sort of insane theft. It is the body of work that I am irritated by. We've seen other programs get overhyped and and undeserving candidates. No Alabama QB ever got that treatment as far as I can recall, but a few got the short end of the stick.

To rehash a bit, the issue with the Tua thing was that Oklahoma faced softer defenses and Murray was playing for an offense that gave him more chance to throw the ball. It inflated his stats heavily, and not much was done to take that into account. That's one reason I bring up Texas Tech. Remember, Murray lost a game that year. So he was given a few advantages, and really wasn't penalized even when he lost.

This is a lot like what we're seeing with Trask and Florida this year. Sure, Trask has more TDs but he's attempted a lot more passes and Florida is giving him more chances for TDs. I mean Mac has what like 50 less throws, and the same number of yards. So we know Trask's numbers are inflated here as well, but we also know Trask got beat. Losing should matter, losing does matter, sometimes.

So it's the same thing all over again. Penalize the Alabama guy for throwing less. Ignore the loss, hype up someone else. Been there, done that. I know this isn't your fault, not trying to take my frustrations out on you, but it's annoying.

I think there is huge difference between Mac and Tua and it is that Mac is better on his off days than Tua which has increased his chances. Tua really lost hold of the race vs MSU. They pretty much counted that as a loss. I think if Mac explodes on Arkansas and beats Florida then it’s his. Trask has had several meh games. Mac’s meh games vs the same opponents are still equaling 40+ games and 300 yards.

My wife and I were talking about this last night...Tua has more arm talent, but at this stage Mac reads the field quicker and makes accurate throws. He also throws the deep ball incredibly well. Just to add, Jalen Hurts is not even in the conversation with these two...

People like to see head to head for Heisman standouts. Recent Bama-LSU games swung the leads to Henry and Burrow, IMO. I have a suspicion that if there is a standout performance in the SECCG, it will go a long way for that player, particularly between Mac and Trask but now with Smith in the mix too (and even Najee as well if he really puts on a show). Heisman will be on everyone’s mind for that game.

That’s an interesting perspective. Najee has a possibility of tying Derrick’s Single season td record but I just doubt he gets 8, and Devontae could theoretically get 423 more yards and break all of Amari’s records. So a 3 teammate invite is certainly possible. But I still think Mac is the only real chance right now
