I'm moving a discussion over to here because I didn't want to keep hijacking another thread.
I understand that point, and I understand that they are not some sort of insane theft. It is the body of work that I am irritated by. We've seen other programs get overhyped and and undeserving candidates. No Alabama QB ever got that treatment as far as I can recall, but a few got the short end of the stick.
To rehash a bit, the issue with the Tua thing was that Oklahoma faced softer defenses and Murray was playing for an offense that gave him more chance to throw the ball. It inflated his stats heavily, and not much was done to take that into account. That's one reason I bring up Texas Tech. Remember, Murray lost a game that year. So he was given a few advantages, and really wasn't penalized even when he lost.
This is a lot like what we're seeing with Trask and Florida this year. Sure, Trask has more TDs but he's attempted a lot more passes and Florida is giving him more chances for TDs. I mean Mac has what like 50 less throws, and the same number of yards. So we know Trask's numbers are inflated here as well, but we also know Trask got beat. Losing should matter, losing does matter, sometimes.
So it's the same thing all over again. Penalize the Alabama guy for throwing less. Ignore the loss, hype up someone else. Been there, done that. I know this isn't your fault, not trying to take my frustrations out on you, but it's annoying.
