We would like to extend a big welcome to Larry Burton (lbsportswriter) as a new member of the TideFans writing staff. Many of you may know Larry from his excellent analysis and articles from Bleacher Report over the past few years.

I"ll let Larry introduce himself in more detail, but in summary, Larry lives in Panama City Beach, FL, is active in the Red Elephant club, is a member of the Football Writers of America Association, the National Football Writers Association, and also writes for Touchdown Alabama magazine. Larry is credentialed by all the major bowls and UA and covers the Senior Bowl each year.

Welcome Larry! We're glad you joined us!

Welcome to Tidefans Larry! I like your work on the BR and really are glad you are here. Brett, man, you have built one heck of a site here...best news, info and posters on the planet!

That's a double-edged sword there, buddy

lol. Since it was singular and followed by a positive, I hope people will know which hire I'm talking about.

Burton has a style that reminds me more of Cecil Hurt than anyone else, and his latest article on BP was the best of any article I read that was directed towards the Bama Nation after the BCS Championship victory

I have an AU co-worker who has an uncle that's a die-hard Bama fan. And he always tells me how his uncle used to almost have a heart attack when Coach Moore was the OC. Said he'd scream at the tv all game "Turn the page, Mal!". HAHAHAHAA. Said he thought Mal would run the same play 9 times in a row and he thought the opposing team couldn't POSSIBLY think they'd run it 10 times in a row. LOL

Ha Ha! I was a skinny barely out of my teens when Mal (function) Moore was bowled over in the blockbuster bowl. If he had a good offensive line, he could move the football.

I am not sure why he was replaced, but he was better than all of Coach Stallings OC except the Homer (Master) Smith. I guess he was too old school and the pressure was to modernize.

Regardless, and this goes back to the Burton article talking about how Mal wore Saban down getting him to come to Alabama, his legacy is set after all the adversity.

Thanks for being in the REC and using your vast conspiracy powers to bring down all of our rivals. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :)

This great news! I have relied on Larry's articles for a long time! I could almost always rely on Larry for a timely and newsworthy post on Latest Bama News! My only regret is He was one of the few at BL you could rely on for good Bama coverage. You undoubtedly got a great addition to the TideFans writing staff, Brett!
I feel like I'm welcoming an old friend! Welcome and Thanks!

Thanks all! B/R is a good site and does a lot of things right, but their hire of one editor I was forced to work with finally ended any desire I had to continue doing all I was doing there. Right now I'm on vacation in the Keys with my wife. We've come down to see our son who's a dive instructor there, and next week we'll get on the Allure of the Seas for a week for a cruise.

Looking forward to keeping everyone here abreast of all the news and I am tickled to find out that another GREAT B/R writer, Walter Kirkwood is also a member here... (Bamaslammer)... His passion is as good as mine and he knows how to spell better than I do! (G)

Maybe we can get him to put his stuff here too in an article section... I know other frustrated writers who might like to jump in and contribute too.

You surely make a guy feel at home in a hurry... Great vibes from everyone and ROLL TIDE!

Larry
