Just got this email from CrimsonTradition:
Dear Crimson Tide Fan,
On April 1, 2008, the University of Alabama Athletics Department will begin a new internet partnership with CBS College Sports. CBS College Sports is a leader in the college sports market and we are extremely excited about the launch of our new site.

You will notice many new features on www.rolltide.com, the most important of which will be the merging of www.rolltide.com and www.crimsontradition.com. We will launch a new multimedia viewer called TideTV to replace crimsontradition.com

You will log into TideTV using your current crimsontradition.com username and password. We will continue to provide the same content with a new emphasis on live streaming events such as baseball, softball, and many other sports on campus.

We hope the new site will enhance your experience and you will continue to support Crimson Tide Athletics with your membership.

Roll Tide!

I'm betting that TideTV will broadcast the games as CT did this last season, allowing you to go back and re-watch the games at your leisure if you didn't DVR them...

Hopefully it will help to break the baseball coverage out of the 18th century .

comcast on demand does that for all you comcast haters. I watched every game last year with CSS on demand (except ULM, I just couldn't).

Wow, I'm a Comcast user (and NOT a hater, I'm actually very pleased with the business account I have with them) and I never even THOUGHT to check see if CSS had an on-demand channel as I always DVR the games - thanks for the news!

I'm sure TideTV will do more than just have the games - I imagine that CT.com's information will remain the same (practice videos, etc) at a minimum and wouldn't be surprised if it increased in it's offerings...

I'm just a little confused with all of this. I am paying for CrimsonTradition.com...so is everything now free with TideTV or did it just simply change that I now I have to go through RollTide.com to get to the paid site? :conf2:

Not true. I believe that the Raycom football games streamed on the internet last year. I know for a fact that they did with basketball. And I believe that you can get a version of ESPN Gameplan that streams over the internet too.

No, it's true. The Raycom games are streamed because Raycom holds the broadcast rights and allows them to be streamed.

The Crimson Tradition website had a statement on it that specifically said, "Due to SEC broadcast rules, we are unable to carry live football games." Tell Crimson Tradition it isn't true. The universities can not carry live streams of the games, because they would be competing against the broadcasters. If the broadcasters choose to do an internet stream, that is their choice. The only exception is when the university has a PPV broadcast. They can then set up a webstream and charge for it. This was done through rolltide.com a couple of times last year, but only made available outside of the state, so as not to take money from the cable companies.
