Unless he got a signing bonus (very unlikely), he will only get paid for the day.

However, if they were not going to keep him, he is better off getting cut early. He still has a chance to catch on with another team.

i hate that. I hope he keeps trying. I would really like to see one of our kickers make it in the NFL. Did his dad or any other UA kicker ever kick in the NFL? Phillip Doyle, Proctor, etc.

I thought we had a punter in the NFL for a long time. Can't recall his name.

Our kickers have never really had success in the NFL. In 1973, David Ray led the NFL in field goals, but that's pretty much been the highlight for us. He played for the Rams for a few seasons.

Chris Mohr is the punter you're thinking of. He played in the NFL for I think 14 or 15 seasons. He appeared in 3 Super Bowls with the Bills.

Met him at a Bills preseason game about 15 years ago, because we were sitting right next to his parents. Super nice guy who was really excited we were Bama fans!

So what would you call this?? " A Quick Kick"? lol

Hopefully Leigh will catch on elsewhere. But I tell ya. It's hard to make it as a kicker in the pros. You almost have to be automatic. 85% accuracy will get you cut.

Chris Mohr was in th NFL for about 16 years '89 to '05 and officially retired in 2007. He punted for the Bills from '91 to 2000.

Daniel Pope is the last kicker from Bama that I can remember, that actually made a team. He spent three years in the NFL.

It always surprised me that Phillip Doyle never became an NFL regular, that guy was clutch.

It was Cleveland. They did him a favor, on many levels.
Yea, it was Cleveland and the Browns haven't been good for a long time.
Hopefully Tiffin will get picked up by another franchise, but trust me - if he doesn't, he would have loved to play in Cleveland.

While the Browns aren't the best franchise in sports right now, that $200,000 (or whatever the league minimum is these days) paycheck Tiffin would have received for being a back-up placekicker for them is a lot better than nothing...
