Any word on whether Coach Saban will keep Asst Director of Football Operations Tim Bowens? I hope so! He's an incredibly articulate person and does a great job promoting the Tide. He is a great asset for our program and definitely needs to be retained. I hope the maligned Randy Ross and his poor rep won't bring Tim down.

You might remember, Coach Bowens played for Alabama as a WR. Also, he's Freddie Roach's half brother.

His brother-in-law actually did the the termite bond at my house a few months ago. (I'm in North GA, small world, huh) He saw all my Bama stuff and we immediately hit it off. He was a really nice guy. He said Tim had been there since the Bear. I hope he is able to stay on, because I know how much he loves Alabama.

Huh, I may have mixed up the names. This guy said said his brother-in-law had started sweeping the floors under the Bear and had worked for every coach since. I thought he said Bowen, but either I was wrong or he was just full of it.

Tim Bowens is a good man, but if I were him I would be looking for other employment. Coach Saban should be allowed to bring in his own people, at every level. That was part of the deal, folks.

In a sense Coach Bryant did clean house when he came in. Prior to that time the old coaching staff generally stayed on when a new head coach came in. Coach Bryant refused to accept the Alabama offer unless he could name his own coaching staff and was also appointed AD. Assistant coaches that had been there under Frank Thomas and Red Drew were reassigned to other jobs, several of them outside the athletic department.
