Tim Hawthorne?

After reading some more quotes from Hawthorne, I kind of get the feeling that he might be leaning toward UGA, but, that his parents are wanting him to go to Bama. Just a feeling.

I agree with you it is looking like he may be leaning towards UGA or AU even though he recently said it is even between Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Louisville. He has said that he may not take his scheduled official visits to South Carolina and Louisville but he is still planning on visiting Florida officially. He still doesn't know if he will take an unofficial visit or an official visit to Alabama. If he takes an official visit I believe Bama will have a shot if not then I would guess he goes to UGA.

Staff out of Town

If I'm not mistaken, during the Clinic, there is a dead period that coaches can't have any contact with recruits. This came about because everyone stayed at home recruiting and didn't come to the clinic.

It looks like he is going to visit UF. I didn't think much about this one from UF's poerspective, but now it seems Damon McDaniel ( Percy Harvin's teammate and is a UF commit as well) is going to visit FSU.

Apparently now Hawthorne is going to visit Louisville officially. Hopefully Bama can get an official visit in place of his cancelled South Carolina visit.

I really believe we are going to land TH near or on NSD. One of the consistent things he has mentioned is that he wants his recruiting process to be similar to that of Fred Rouse's last year. The interpretation of that statement... "I don't want anyone to know where I am going until I step up on the stage and tell it myself." Therefore, IMO, you can throw out EVERYTHING that he says to any Rivals, Scout, TI staff member. The fact that he has indicated his visits up to this point were "perfect 10's" is simply designed to hype the frenzy... I am not saying he's a bad kid or dishonest... he's simply using the recruiting services to enhance the attention and increase discussion of his intentions. In the end, I believe it comes down to us and UGA... and ultimately, he stays home.

There is contradictory info from Rivals that says that Hawthorne is visiting Bama this weekend. I posted the story below anyway to keep everyone updated on his situation at least at the time of the article interview.

Tim Hawthorne: Talks Weekend Plans
Hawthorne almost took a visit to Alabama this weekend,
but the Tide is on the outside looking in for the nation's seventh-best receiver.

"Yesterday I thought I would visit Alabama," Hawthorne said. "I told a few people that I was probably going down to Tuscaloosa, but I am not going anymore. I don't know if I will visit Tuscaloosa at all."

"I know what all Tuscaloosa has to offer. I have been down there a few times, and I feel like I have seen everything. I don't want to waste anyone's time," Hawthorne added.

On CDTSD, They had Hawthorne visiting South Carolina this weekend. I wonder if the coaches are getting confused about TH actions? I've stated before I thought he was pulling a Rouse and would eventually commit to Bama, but now I don't know where he's heading.

Wow!!! I had not seen those quotes before. The one that would worry me the most is "I don't want to waste anyone's time".

Look at it this way. You're going to buy a nice TV. You've been in the store a bunch of times before and you know everything about all the models in the store, and the sale ends February 1. You don't need the salesman to explain all the features. But the store doesn't carry all the brands, so you look at other stores. If this store has what you want, you'll buy it there. But you'd be wasting the saleman's time by listening to his spiel when you know it all already.

He may have been buying the local sports talk about Alabama's offense or lack there of. To me we went out there and played the zen masters of offense in Texas Tech and our QB threw for more yards and had better stats, The Birmingham Media have given Shula's offensive system less credit than it deserves. Don't get me wrong, we are never going to be Texas Tech, but when the day comes that we have experienced players who actually "shave" at every position our offense will score points and everybody will be like "Gosh Shula sure has gotten smarter and more imaginative"

"Gosh Shula sure has gotten smarter and more imaginative"

Great point, and when the team has gotten a little more experience, they'll catch and block better, which leads to the offense being on the field longer and being more succesful and back to "Gosh Shula sure has gotten smarter and more imaginative."

I can't imagine a guy coming from Columbia to Alabama. It'll be a huge cultural shock from NYC to Tuscaloosa.
