Both of these guys are fun to chat with. Love them to death.
I would love to see the band. Videos of the OSU band are very cool. Most dont have a clue as to the hard work those kids invest.BIGTide and OSUTideFan are the most prolific Buckeye posters here on TideFans, and the significant majority of our OSU members are highly valued and add a lot to our discussions.
This was a tough night for our OSU friends, and remembering some tough nights of our own, I can certainly empathize.
The Bucks lost a number of key players either before kickoff, or shortly thereafter. I’m not sure that changed the outcome, but it certainly changed the complexion of the game.
I’ve seen no mention of that handicap from our OSU friends, and that’s classy in today’s excuse-seeking culture.
It was an honor to play a program like the Buckeyes for the ring. Intending only the highest respect for the opponent, I say that tonight was a fine win for our program.
Some people don’t know how to handle success. It would appear that we have a few of those posting tonight.
You have shown grace and sportsmanship in what I know was a painful evening, and have set a great example of how to handle adversity....something all too rare in our world today.
Looking forward to the home-and-home. I’ve never been to Columbus, and want to see The Horseshoe first-hand. Hoping we can clink a stein.....
OSU also lost a starting OL in the game, a big-time DT and DE, and likely others. While I obviously think Bama was just the better team (probably best offense ever), OSU was clearly hurt by loss of Sermon, & Fields was clearly not 100%. Would love to have seen a game with Fields & Sermon a full speed. I think Bama still wins because OSU defense was just outmatched, but OSU definitely scores more & keeps game much closer.
You or any other TF members that come are welcome to join me at my tailgate. Food, spirits and fellowship.Looking forward to the home-and-home. I’ve never been to Columbus, and want to see The Horseshoe first-hand. Hoping we can clink a stein....
Great post and sums it up perfectly. I have been fortunate enough to attend two games in Columbus. They were fantastic experiences.
Metchie is in a boot nowOSU also lost a starting OL in the game, a big-time DT and DE, and likely others.
OTOH, Bama would have benefitted greatly from a healthy Waddle, All SEC and Fr All Am DB Malachi Moore, S Battle, Remington Award winning Dickerson and 2nd half for Heisman winning Smith. Metchie was really hobbled too and Ray was probably not full strength.
You don't consider football talk to be religion? You or any other TF members that come are welcome to join me at my tailgate. Food, spirits and fellowship.
And by fellowship I mean banter, football talk, etc. Nothing religious.
This is stale, but from my perspective the "if Sermon was healthy argument" being presented here has been from Bama fans saying that, while the win was great, they'd have liked to see Bama beat OSU with all their pieces in place, which they pretty evidently would have done. Regarding "Smith didn't play the second half", I'm inclined to say that didn't make much difference to the final margin. Because, as dominant as Smith's first half was, Bama continued to move the ball more-or-less at will in the second half, even without Smith. Also - the "if Sermon was healthy argument" proposed above is ignoring the "Smith didn't play the second half" counter-argument FWIW.
That was a good read, thanks.A great blog post from 11W on the game:

Film Study: Alabama Didn't Just Find the Seams in Ohio State's Pass Defense, It Ripped Them Apart in the CFP Title Game
There's little question of how Alabama dominated Ohio State's pass defense in the CFP title game, but the pressure is now on Kerry Coombs to respond in 2021.www.elevenwarriors.com
Definitely reminiscent of the 2018 Bama-Clemson title game. This game for OSU reminded me of our NC game against clemson, you could just tell, things are not gonna go our way tonight. The season started out bad with their brain dead commish, and they had to fight just to play. They got there though, and that's a big compliment to them, but it wasn't to be, you could just tell.
