Topic, not a comment: Auburn offically lap us this weekend?

Re: If your...

circumstances in life require you to spend 15 hours straight with Barners, then you should probably go through a withdrawal period before you can post rationally. Let's worry about our own little row to hoe, OK? BTW, it's really "ecstatic."

Bama gave up 106 yards to a running back from Louisiana-Monroe; in the FIRST half. And then they made adjustments for the second half. What tooks so long? My point is, yes Bama is two-steps behind Auburn this year.

On the rushing yards, Most of them [65+ or so] came on one drive in a change of pace move by the LM OC. CJK saw it, adjusted on the sideline to contain it and at half time made it a non-factor. That's just good coaching on both sides.

I just don't get some of the auburn worship by some . There were a couple of calls that bailed them out yesterday. They do have speed, but I'm not impressed with any of their wrs other than Taylor. What's interesting will be when a real defense stacks the line and forces Cox to throw consistently. You saw the pressure LSU was able to generate with their front and I felt LSU controlled the game bust missed numerous opportunities. Russell just seems to never be able to close in big games 4 them. As of right now, it seems to be that the Barn is just a little deeper but not so much more more talented that they can't be beaten by us or anyone else. Our team is just young, and yes that will hold water for only so long. But idiot Herb on WJOX conveniently didn't mention last week that Tubby used the "we're young" line for 3 years, yet called out CMS for saying that bAMA'S young. The Barn fanbase has become a holier than thou we're better than u bunch. When u attack a program and spread rumors that your rival's players are selling drugs to make spending money, that's crossing a serious line and demonstrates a serious level of sickness.

There's nothing surprising about how good Auburn is this year or how young and inexperienced we are this year. It's been predicted for a long, long time. Auburn and LSU are definitely the better teams in the SEC/nation this year. Whether or not Auburn was handed the game last night, that doesn't mean they were not good enough to win fairly. They certainly were.

Hopefully by the last game of the season we will gel together enough to pull off one heart breaking, season spoiling upset of the Barn. Nothing would make me happier. But until then, I totally expect them to continue winning because they are a very good team, and I totally expect us to go week by week and hope for the best.

As I see it, we really(fans) don't know where we stand at this time. We haven't been out of our own backyard so far, we have had the crowd noise and fan base on our side not to mention familarity with surroundings. This Sat. will answer a few questons about this team.
I think we would be amiss (as fans) to be over confident, but as so aptly been stated in this topic, "just win" and everything else will fall into place.

Dont overlook how many seniors play on the teams mentoned about the Tide. TM is absolutly correct. That said we should all be excited. We have recruited well and look to again in 07, we are getting more experience and as time goes on my bet is that things begin to look normal in the SEC. After this year I expect LSU to be more average as Les Miles own players begin to filter through and Sabans leave. When we are at the same level ie seniors and experience as barn we will keep them down. I evpect us to recruit even better in te years to come and barn to be less effective. Ten is static. As long as fulmer is there they will be static imho. Georgia is somewhat an exception to the others. They have a stable program and head coach and continue to get very good recruiting. I look forward to beating them in next years conference championship.
No matter what happens this year, the glass is half full, not half empty as I see it.

Sorry, I guess I should have done the 'ol spell check. As far as the "15 hours" thing, it was an all day (and good part of the night) family thing, and unfortunately there is a lot of blue and orange in the fam.

Your invited to take my place next year.;)

Mobile, I thought the same thing yesterday walking into the stadium. I know there is a lot of football left to be played but we better get our heads screwed on straight. The Aubs are a sick and twisted bunch who are having some success and they are singularly focused on "lapping" us. We Bama fans, coaches etc better quit dimissing them and start protecting our status in the world order. Just assuming when we get back to full strength that we will re-assume our position at the top is very naive.

Assuming we meet the expectations of a 8-4 or 9-3 team and probably face an unbeaten Auburn in Tuscaloosa who at that time is potentially in the NC race, I dont like what I see. We dont need that right now with all the youngsters we have.

Well there certainly a lot of teeth gnashing and hand wringing going on for the first part of the season. We have 3 in the W cloumn folks, as does the barn.
There's a bunch of football left to be played and I'm not concerned with the boogs until late November. This team are the masters of their own destiny, it is going to be a week to week situation and I just hope they improve week to week and if this happens it will all take care of itself.

There's controversy over CMS's handling of discipline (which is I beleive is non issue as far as the team is concerned) and being young on D along with a first year starter at QB we have more to worry about than the boogs. So let them run their yaps because theirs is coming (maybe sooner or later), it just might take until the last game of the regular season to happen but it's well on its way.
So relax and worry about the things you can change and enjoy the moment the rest as they say will take care of itself.

I Think we just have to work on our mistakes and get better every game and
by the end of the season we will be hard to handle. We are still very young but
we are very talented, we will no dought make some mistakes, but we will also
make some big plays,The rest of the season should be really fun to watch.

My opinion..... Auburn was lucky AND had the officials in their back pockets, but; they are extremely intense and appear to go all out on every play. I suspect that this is a result of the following:

Very tough preseason conditioning and Fall practices. I suspect more intense than most other programs.
A lot of talent and competition at all positions.
Coaches who create this intensity and push them extremely hard.

IF Auburn were able to sail through their schedule and win a national title it would most definately put a big fat roadblock between us and a return to prominance. From a recruiting standpoint I think they would probably get the pick of the litter and we would have to overcome that.

however having said that we won the national title in 92 and it sure didn't take long to screw that up, so anythings possible.

having said THAT, they were probably dead even with LSU in ability so if that is the case its still fairly unlikely they will be able to run the table in the SEC, and even if they do that they are probably still going to have to beat somebody real good like USC or Ohio State, two teams that have been there, done that, and expect to again.

It sickens me to see them where they are, but its a long season, and They very well may have peaked too early, and one big hit on Cox and you can kiss it all goodbye.

it's been stated on this board several times that tubbey's only strength may be his ability to hire outstanding coordinators and stay out of their way. he currently has two excellent ones in muschamp and borges who will no doubt be interviewed for what i think will be a lot of head coaching vacancies this off season (miami, maryland, kentucky, miss. state?, nc state, texas a&m, and the list goes on).

I know. Matt Coulter, Herb Winches, Ray Mellick and Al Del Greco are the worst of the worst too. Its so aggrevating. Yesterday they spent hours on JOX radio praising Auburn, defending the replay, and talking about how great and wonderful Tuberville is. The only mention made of Bama was the controversy over Shula's handling of the suspensions and how soft our opponent was Saturday. (They conveniently neglected to mention that AU is due to play a couple of lightweights as well).

I have to shake my head when they preface their remarks with "Its Shula's program and he has a right to do what he wants but...". It was only after a few people called in a blessed Matt out that he finally shut up about the suspensions. (I got a kick outta that).

But here's the thing that stands out for me. AU (LSU, Fla, UT and GA) have had several years to build up their programs while Logan Young. UT, our former coaching staff and the NCAA tore ours down to the bricks. I think that AU is talented. They are strong and they have depth. And they have some very talented coaches helping Tuberville. So IMO, they deserve to be ranked highly and it doesn't surprise me that the media is praising them a bit. But they can be beaten and until we do it, we really cant say a whole lot. I think the only thing we can do is grit our teeth and keep winning games. Winning will solve a lot of our problems. I think if Bama had beaten AU last year we'd have a bit more respect in the SEC than we have now. We had a very good record last year (I think better than AU!). But we were embarrassed by the Tigers last year and they pretty much shredded our offensive line. We lost to AU, they are highly ranked and we dont get the respect we crave. So we are just going to have to beat them, pure and simple.

Personally I'd love to see AU come into Bryant-Denny and get their butts handed to them this year. I would dearly LOVE for Bama to be the ones responsible for dismantling their NC dreams. That would be something that would stick in their craw for decades. :biggrin2:

So while i think Herb, Matt and those guys are idiots, they do make one good point. AU deserve to be credited for their on the field accomplishments. And my advice to the faitful is to keep cheering for Bama and keep winning. Winning solves a lot of problems.

These arrogant [ insert something here] think they have a one game season and they just won it. Fine, it keeps alive my dream of them showing up in the last game of the season, game down to the wire, coach sends a helicopter to my house, lands on the 50 at BDS, gives me the call on the last play, and I, [that's right ME] personally end their season with the famous SEWER and CERAL tradition upheld by Bama for over 100 years. MHO= desired effect!
