tuscaloosa alabama usa
catching houston, and then possible A&M, then rice if we happen to survive that regional. Would have rather been someone closer to tuscaloosa but i guess at this point in the season we'll take going anywhere.

what about the rotation for the tourney? i guess we throw carter game 1 then johnson game 2, leaving either woody or norris to throw game 3. Tanks stays in the pen with reed, i assume this is how we will line it up, any thoughts?

I believe Houston slid a little down the stretch (like we did) but we really caught on fire in the tourney. I'd much rather be in College Station than Tallahassee, Fullerton, Houston, Tempe, or Palo Alto. I was hoping for a Hattiesburg or Atlanta draw, but oh well. If Bren's right arm is ok, he will pitch Friday. Then Seth, then Norris. Just how I'd do it. Tank, Woody, and Brian all ready from the pen. RTR

I really think the draw isn't that bad. Houston only has one decent pitcher and they can't hit a lick. The only bad part is we'll face him on Friday (Brad Sullivan). A&M is good, but if we play as well as this weekend I'm sure we can beat them. As far as the Super, Rice has been very average after starting out something like 32-1.

Tough regional, but not impossible. I like our chances the way we are playing now.
Rotation should be Carter, Johnson, Woody with Norris and Tank in the pen. The big man will close.

I may be mistaken, but I think Houston has two VERY GOOD pitchers, not just one decent one. And all you need is one to win one game.

BS2,
You are talking about Danny Zell who beat us and LSU this year. In my humble opinion, he is better than Sullivan. However, we will likely face the latter.

Zell was good early, but has been pretty bad lately, including losing 3 of his last 4 games while giving up a lot of runs. Trust me on Houston, I made the mistake of taking them in a college baseball fantasy league I'm in.

I was surfing at lunch and found this link. I happened to work with Mr. Zell a few years ago, and sent this link to him. He asked me to post his reply:

"Although Danny’s last 4 starts produced 2 losses and 2 no decisions, he is pitching very well. In his last 2 starts he went 7 innings against Texas A&M (#11) with no decision in which Houston won, and lost in the conference tournament to Southern Miss. (#12) giving up only 4 runs in 7 1/3 innings. He is a hard luck pitcher at this point, with little run and defensive support. He will not be pitching the Alabama game, but will start the Saturday game.
P.S. - I enjoyed going to Baton Rouge and seeing him shutdown your Bengal Tigers... LOL."

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm an LSU Tiger fan living in Houston, so it hurt me to add his P.S. I'll be rooting for both the "red" (crimson) teams this weekend, as I'm not a fan of anything aggy.

Congrats on the SEC tourney title by the way. Hopefully all 8 SEC teams can prove the selection committee right, and we'll get a couple of teams in the CWS.

Thanks for the contribution and support HoustonTiger, but to be honest, I will not be pulling for a couple of those SEC teams that made the tournament. Florida has absolutely no business in the postseason and I simply cannot lower myself under any circumstances to hope that Auburn makes it to Omaha just for the sake of the conference's success. The selection committee dropped the ball this year, no matter what happens. Your Tigers, though, are as talented a team as there is in the country and I wish you all the best of luck this postseason.

Zell went 6.2 against A&M and gave up 6 runs, only 3 were earned. We did have 11 hits off of him, meaning we obviously coaxed us into a lot of stranded baserunners.
