Can anyone confirm if Juan Garnier, the defensive tackle which transferred from Ohio State, is eligible this year? A 300 pound plugger is just what we need! Thanks.

That is a good point. A walk on does not have to obtain a release. I may just be grasping at straws.

No, this is my debut...just a rookie.

I'm sure you'll do great then. I don't personally know the guy that used to do it. Last year's Boaz game was the one and only time I heard him but I really enjoyed it. IMO, he's up there with CJ from WQSB when he comes back to do the P.A. at an occasional Fyffe game.

That was actually the first time I'd ever been to a Ft Payne home game at all. (Played against them in a '99 fall jamboree at Cherokee Co.) I love the way the home stands are just built into the hillside. Their band did a tremendous job as well. :)

I'm pretty sure this one has been discussed before , but it doesn't matter if he was on a scholly or not if he transfers from a div. 1 team to another div. 1 team he has to sit a year.

btw I'm thinking he went to Juco when he didn't qualify for Bama initially and then to Auburn then transferred to OSU.

I have a Buckeye friend who tells me he was granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA. Not sure why however. All in all, I believe it's for the best. If Bama can sway players from OSU, then we've got a good thing going for us in T-Town. I won't read to deep into it though. One step at a time.

I believe he was battling with depression the last few years, in fact at one point in time his weight was over 400 pounds. He apparently has had a rough time with finances for school and other health issues and the NCAA felt as though it was appropriate to grant him another year. This was in an article that was posted somewhere but I don't exactly which thread it was.

Actually, he was granted two years by the NCAA - he's coming in as a soph (a 5 year soph)...
