One thing many of the Chicken littles need to realize is that a pit of hell (aka 30 day transfer portal) opened up for us when Saban retired. CKD is getting punched but isn’t allowed to punch back yet. While trying to recruit hs talent and build a staff he has to convince guys to stay. It is something everyone other than currently Washington and Arizona aren’t experiencing. CKD isn’t allowed to recruit people on other teams with the exception of those with portals opened.

Point is…. Be patient and just hope the bleeding slows down. It could always be way worse, look at Oklahoma 2 years ago.

It looks like worst case in the near term will be we won't have as many 4 Stars and 5 Stars in the 3rd string slot on the depth chart.

It stinks that so many of the players are considering the portal. That said, if you look at it from the perspective that many of these guys committed to Bama in large part because of the opportunity to play for the greatest coach to ever walk a college sideline and now they're going to be playing for a head coach (and other coaches) they may never have even heard of until a month or so ago, it makes it more understandable that they are looking elsewhere.

I don't like it, and it's going to hurt us at least in the short term, but it's not all that surprising.

And regardless of his ability, I can understand how many of the players on defense are like "who, huh, what?" in terms of the new DC hire.

The change was not going to happen without it hurting in the short term but, because the new DC was a successful head coach and in the same state, many of the guys on the team probably already know who he is. Now that he is part of the staff, he can start making contact with them. I also wonder if he will have input into hiring the rest of the defensive staff.

Most of their top tier talent declared for the NFL or are seniors. I heard Michigan may have 16 drafted this year

So basically wants the "No buyout for firing for just cause" part removed from any contract extension that would be put in front of him.

That is an admonition of guilt right there. No administration in their right mind would do that...soooooo they might.

Amos leaving might bump him up a spot if he stays. I doubt the players can keep up, you might transfer and think you have starting job and then someone else comes in from another school.
