Transfer Portal is abour to get completely out of control(it really already is). Mercy. Needs to be SOME sort of regulation to it, or else it's gonna create some major clusterbumbles. Just the list of folks from OSU in the portal alone is insane-- though after hearing about some of the stuff Buckeye fans did to McCord(much as some Bama fans did to Milroe)-- I get that one. But the rest, jeeze that's a lot of talent.
I'm getting off topic, but what did Alabama fans do to Milroe? I get most of my information from Tidefans and didn't catch any of this.

Go back and read what was written here. Now factor in the fact that this is the best Bama forum and it doesn’t allow profanity and over the top criticism. Now imagine all those restrictions are lifted. Then there is the fact Milroe is black and I think you can figure out what might have been said on other social media platforms.

All the criticism and hate from September until about the Tennessee game. Some even later.
"Hate" here on Tidefans? Strong criticism that was justified based on some very poor play maybe, but "hate?'

I don't think that's the right word.

On bolded: I NEVER saw his race being discussed and why should it be??? Not saying it didn't happen randomly but I never saw that here on Tidefans or Twitter, which are the two places I get my Bama info/discussion points.

What does his race have to do with his football play? Just because he was criticized for bad play isn't racial. Seth's inability to snap the ball at times isn't because he's a white guy.

Nobody should be "hated" as a person, but these guys are now professional athletes playing on the biggest stage at this level so when they don't play well, people notice and will call it out.

Again, not saying some bad/hateful things weren't said about JM, but legit criticism of performance isn't hate or racism.

I didn’t mean to accuse you or anyone else of racism. I don’t read Twitter so I don’t know what was said there.

But there are idiots out there who will make racist remarks towards a black QB.

That being said, Milroe’s play earlier in the season did warrant criticism and he has greatly improved as the season went along. Hopefully this continues in the playoffs and next year.

People who criticize a player because of his race are despicable.

I didn't take what you said personally, but I was just commenting to say how we need not conflate just criticism with true racism.

The bolded statement is true. I know racism is still a very real thing having raised a biracial grandson from diapers to the age of 23 in a predominantly white school and neighborhood. But I can guarantee you this much. Had racially motivated derogatory statements been made on this board toward JM, or any other player for that matter, it would definitely have been called out and the offender roasted accordingly.

New guy here but I can promise you if racism was used here the poster would be banned forever and the post would be deleted as well... Just from what I have seen so far that sums it up on this site.

I think alot of people including myself doubted that JM could carry the team and we could win with him and not because of him. Since the second half of the ucheat game things started to change,. Tommy Rees who I was aslo critical of started to use JM as a weapon with his legs and the whole game plan seemed to change along with attitudes within the program.

Now Rees has done a great job of using JM and getting a better plan going (although I think it still needs more work as we go dead for periods in games) but I give Rees credit for adapting. I give JM all the credit for making himself into a weapon and something other teams had to scheme against lswho, the barn, and even uga were terrified of him taking off. It has worked out in our favor and we are winning now because of JM not in spite of him.

Also of great note is the whole OL. I think we all said some harsh words about the swinging gate that USED to be our OL. Now since we put #77 at RG the whole OL is a monster and is really just starting to impose it's will on opponents. Look at the uga game, there were times when the OL was 3-4 yards forward driving the DL back and it was for most of that entire game.

Hats off to JM, Rees, and the OL for making us into the BAMA we know and love.

I didn't realize (lack of attention) that the defensive backfield may lose so many players.

Keep an eye on defensive backs in the portal, too. Alabama is expected to have a fair amount of shakeup there. Starting corners Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold could both declare for the NFL Draft. Also, safety Jaylen Key will see his eligibility expire after this season. Plus, Malachi Moore is a senior. That's four of five starting defensive backs who could be gone. There's other talent in the secondary still on the roster, but this is expected to be a position Alabama tracks closely in the portal.
